Group A

Maharashtra vs Karnataka

Our correspondent P. K. Ajith Kumar reports from Pune:

Karnataka made it three in a row, defeating Maharashtra by an innings and 136 runs on a cool morning here at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. It began the day needing to take six wickets of the home side, and it did that in a little over two hours. Abhimanyu Mithun was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of five for 66. Karnataka, with 20 points from three matches, is firmly on top of Group A and should have no difficulty to advance to the knock-out stage. [Day Three report]

. Nayar does it again! This time by sneaking through Biplab Samantray's defence to win the all-rounders' battle. Tailender Suryakant Pradhan then goes after Vijay Gohil, tonking him for two huge sixes and a four in an over. Odisha 262 for seven at drinks break. With the new ball just a solitary over away, Mumbai will be hoping to wrap up the game soon.

. Mumbai's long wait for a breakthrough is over, thanks to that man Abhishek Nayar. The veteran coerces Govinda Poddar into chasing one moving away from him and the attempted cut results in ricocheting on to the stumps. Odisha 178 for 5.

. Govind Poddar and Shantanu Mishra have started on a positive note. Akash Parkar creates the first opportunity but Suryakumar Yadav grasses an edge off Mishra's blade at second slip. Odisha 124 for four
