Scorecard

Resuming at the overnight total of 56 for 7 and still required to make 182 to topple Kerala, the visitors showed little resistance as left-arm spinner K. C. Akshay made it a dream debut for himself by picking all the three wickets this morning.

Having finished with a haul of four wickets in the J&K first innings, Akshay as he mopped up the rival tail did one better to finish the match with a tally of nine for 58.

Asif Khan looked stunned as he was castled by Akshay with a peach of a delivery into the third over of the day. And as he was continued with at the same end, Akshay also got rid of Aamir Aziz, caught by Vishnu Vinod, and Mohammed Mudhasir, off his very next delivery, stumped by Sanju V. Samson behind the stumps.

Naturally, the home team was quite ecstatic on the win, which was summed up best by its coach, Dave Whatmore: “We are all quite happy. Our attention is to improve with every match and move on,” he said.

Kerala which notched up six points from this win now has a total of 18 points from four matches, while J&K stays rooted with three points.

Kerala will next play against Saurashtra here from November 17 to 20.
