Former India International and Andhra Ranji team member  Y. Venugopal Rao on Saturday expressed his inability to continue with the team for the rest of the season citing personal reasons.

The selection committee chaired by V. Satya Prasad included middle order batsman N. Jyothi Sai Krishna in his place for the rest of the four matches. “The absence of Venugopal Rao will be felt by the team but we have to respect the feelings of the player who was former captain of Andhra Ranji Team and India International” said Ch. Arun Kumar, Secretary, Andhra Cricket Association.

Venugopal Rao played against Tamil Nadu in the season’s opener at Chennai and did not come out to bat during the run chase in the second innings. He was dropped in the next match against Baroda at Vadodara. Andhra meets Odisha at Vizianagaram on October 24.
