Our reporters Amol Karkadkar (Nagpur), Ashwin Achal (Bengaluru) and P. K. Ajith Kumar (Wayanad) will be sending us periodic updates straight from the venues.

  • The quarterfinal contests in Nagpur and Lucknow look one-sided, but exciting finish could be on the cards in Bengaluru. Until Day Four, then, it's goodbye.

  • It's stumps, in Bengaluru, too. Karnataka is 45 for 3, and needs 139 runs more to win.

  • At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the scenario is getting difficult for Karnataka. In the pursuit of its target of 184, it has lost its third wicket, that of opener R. Samarth. It's 41 for 3. The wicket-taker — M. Lomror.

  • And, that's stumps, in Nagpur, too. After 159 overs, Vidarbha is 559 for 6, leading by 204. Here's Amol Karhadkar, from Nagpur: Vidarbha ends the day at 559 for six. With a lead of 204 runs, Vidarbha is set to travel to Wayanad next week for the semifinal.

  • Akshay Wakhare, the new batsman, steers Mishra to slip, but is dropped. It was a tough chance to the left of the slip fielder, who gets a hand to it.

  • And thats stumps, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. A long struggle awaits Saurashtra, on Day Four.

  • In Lucknow, Shivam Mavi departs for 1. Uttar Pradesh 172 for 8, against Saurashtra. Lead is 349.

  • Akshay Wadkar has a rush of blood when on 98, and he pays the price. Amol Karhadkar has more: Mayank Mishra is creating a lot of chances. After failing to hold on to a diving return catch by Aditya Sarvate soon after he celebrated his fifty, Mishra's next over sees Akshay Wadkar stepping out and attempting a wild heave to complete his hundred with a six. He misses the ball and gets bowled. Wadkar dismissed for 98, Vidarbha's lead has swollen to 198. It's 553 for 6 in 155 overs.

  • Left-arm spinner Mayank Mishra drops a catch off Aditya Sarwate. The insipid phase of play was lit up briefly when Sarwate chipped the ball straight back to the Mishra for a caught-and-bowled chance. Mishra went to his left, tumbled but couldn't hold on. Vidarbha 547 for 5 in 153 overs.

  • Uttar Pradesh loses one more wicket. It's seven down now, for 166. Saurabh Kumar goes for a duck.

  • In Nagpur, Aditya Sarwate reaches his half-century with an off-drive. His batting partner, Akshay Wadkar, is batting on 92. Vidarbha is 543 for 5 after 150 overs.

The very next delivery, Sharath leaves with a finger injury. D. Nischal has been out since the first session due to a finger injury.Horrific shot by Deepak leads to his downfall. Wild heave at a Shreyas delivery outside off, top edge goes way up to Deshpande at cover. Rajasthan batsmen must put a price on their wicket, every run counts from here.  Rajasthan 187/6.

  • Amol Kharadkar updates from Nagpur: Wasim Jaffer's marathon innings ends with a nudge off left-arm spinner Mayank Mishra to first slip. Akshay Wadkar has helped Vidarbha's lead past 90 runs. Vidarbha 447/5, leads by 92 runs

  • Amol Kharhadkar sends us the latest developments from Nagpur: " Wasim Jaffer has been letter stranded on 199 for a while, not by the Uttarakhand bowlers but due to Akshay Wadkar letting Jaffer face a single ball in three overs. When he gets to face two balls off Malolan, the first one deflects off his pads for a couple but the next ball he taps it to covers for a single and completes ninth double hundred in first-class cricket. "

So are Sachin Baby's men are chances of taking a historic semifinal berth in the Ranji Trophy. They need just three more wickets to defeat Gujarat, with over two days to spare. With 10 minutes left for lunch, Gujarat, chasing 195, is 63 for seven. It has been another fine show from the Kerala new-ball duo of Sandeep Warrier (two wickets) and Basil Thampi (four), on what is difficult track to bat on. One drop Rahul Shah is still there, on 26 not out. "

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Bengaluru: " A brilliant leg side catch by keepr Sharath ends a dangerous 72-run second wicket partnership between Chetan Bist and Mahipal Lomror. Chetan gone for 33. The duo had started attacking and getting the boundaries. Timely wicket for Karnataka. "

  • Prerak Mankad returns as the last wicket after fighting 67 in Yash Dayal's bowling which gives Uttar Pradesh a first innings lead of 173 runs. Saurashtra 208 all out.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates: " Jaffer has enjoyed the pace of the new ball. A cover drive off Deepak Dhapola is followed with a pull off Sunny Rana in the next over to cross the 150-run mark. It's the third time this season the veteran who is one month shy of turning 41 has scored 150 this season. Vidarbha, meanwhile, is on the cusp of overhauling Uttarakhand's total of 355 "

  • Abhimanyu Mithun gets the first breakthrough of the morning, A.V. Gautam is caught by Shreyas Gopal for 24. Rajasthan 35/1, trails by 4 runs.

  • Our reporter Amol Karhadkar updates from Nagpur: With the new ball available only after 11 overs, Uttarakhand preferred to bowl with part-timers early on. Jaffer and Sanjay looked in little trouble but the moment Dhanraj Sharma got the red cherry four balls into the 81st over, he makes the ball talk. The first ball rose sharply and beat Sanjay and the blow on his body meant he required medical attention

  • Our reporter P.K. Ajith Kumar updates from Wayanad: Kerala's quest for a maiden semifinal berth begins on a bright note. It has taken three Gujarat wickets inside 40 minutes on the third day and potentially the final day. And even as I write this, another man returns to the pavillion. Gujarat 18 for four . Kerala six wickets away from making history.

  • Ankit Rajpoot gets the wicket of Jayadev Unadkat on 3 runs. Saurashtra 191/9, trails by 194 runs.

  • Yash Dayal sends back Devendrasinh Jadeja for 14 runs, caught by Upendra Yadav. Saurashtra 186/8.

  • Kerala wastes no time in putting Gujarat in a tough situation as Basil Thampi bowls opener Kathan Patel. Gujarat 9/1

  • It's stumps, in Wayanad, too. Kerala, bowled out for 171 in its second innings, leads Gujarat by 194 runs.

  • At stumps on Day Two, with three wickets left, Saurashtra trails Uttar Pradesh by 215 runs.
  • Here's P. K. Ajith Kumar, from Wayanad: A rare act of courage at the Wayanad Cricket Stadium, as Sanju Samson, despite his broken finger, comes out to bat at the fall of the ninth Kerala wicket. After seeing Jalaj Saxena slashing Roosh Kalaria for four through point, he has defended three balls in the same over. Kerala 169 for nine, with 10 minutes left for stumps.
  • Rahul Chahar gets his fifer with Ronit More's wicket. It brings an end to the last-wicket stand of 97 runs between More and Vinay Kumar, who fought back with a brilliant knock of 83 not out. Karnataka gets the crucial first innings lead of 39 runs.
  • Amol Karhadkar, once again: Sanjay becomes the third centurion of the day with his 14th boundary, a crisp cover drive off Sunny Rana. He has faced 191 balls. With a packed on-side field, Sunny Rana bowls one on Jaffer's legs and the batsman whips it in the air but the man at short mid-wicket fails to latch on to the chance. Jaffer survives on 105, Vidarbha 242 for one.
  • Hat-trick for Roosh Kalaria! The left-armer foils Kerala's plans to build a commanding lead. He gets set batsman Sijomon Joseph out for 56, then sends back Basil Thampi with a catch by Nagwaswalla off the last two balls of the 52nd over. He comes back to rattle the stumps off the first ball of the 54th over to dismiss M.D. Nidheesh. Kerala 158/8, leads by 185 runs.
  • Wasim Jaffer reaches 57th first-class hundred in 129 balls, which includes 13 boundaries.
  • Here's Amol Karhadkar, from Nagpur: Wasim Jaffer taps Malolan Rangarajan for a single to long-on and raises his bat for his fourth hundred of the season. The veteran takes only 129 balls (183m, 13x4) to reach the milestone. R. Sanjay is not too far from what would be his first of the season, batting on 95. The duo has taken the fizz out of Uttarakhand attack, with Vidarbha safely placed at 228 for one.

Waseem Jaffer made his First-Class debut in the 1996-97 season.

  • Vinay Kumar's fighting fifty off 111 balls, gives Karnataka a crucial first innings lead. His partnership of 65 runs with Ronit More could prove to be the difference in this match. Karnataka 231/9, leads by 7 runs

  • Shivam Mavi gets two wickets in consecutive balls ---Harvik Desai (84 off 143 balls) and K. Makwana (0). Saurashtra 152/7, trails by 233 runs.

  • P.K. Ajith Kumar updates from Wayanad: Kerala 87 for four at tea. It must be regretting that Sachin Baby fell, to Axar Patel, five minutes before the interval. The host leads by 110 runs and is short of one batsman, its best in fact: Sanju Samson, who broke his finger while batting in the first innings and is expected to be out of action for four weeks.

  • Updates by Amol Kharadkar from Nagpur: Wasim Jaffer and R. Sanjay cross individual fifties in successive overs. The pair has been scoring freely as the partnership has crossed the 90-run mark.

  • Updates by Ashwin Achal from Bengaluru: Deepak destroys Mithun and gives him a send off. Mithun unimpressed, and stops on his way back and argues with Deepak. The fast bowler responds by showing Mithun how far the uprooted  off stump has flown towards the keeper. Rajasthan showing real self confidence, despite going up against a strong team like Karnataka. Unafraid of trading punches with the domestic giant in their own den.

  • Harvik Desai stands alone on 51 runs from 86 balls with tumbling at the other end. Arpit Vasavada is gone for a duck in Yash Dayal's bowling. Saurashtra 86 for five

  • Updates by Ashwin Achal from Bengaluru: K Gowtham bowled by a grubber. Rahul's flatter delivery skids through at ankle height, and Gowtham can't get bat to it. The pitch in focus now. This is by no means a typical Chinnaswamy batting beauty. Bounce has been spongy and uneven all match long. Runs coming at a premium. Shreyas Gopal given LBW, despite jumping down the track to Rahul. Shreyas is unhappy with the decision, and makes his feelings known to the umpire. Karnataka 152/7

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Nagpur: Malolan Rangarajan is introduced into the attack in the 24th over. But the offie drifts in his line too often and Jaffer makes merry with a flick off backfoot and a paddled sweep for four.

  • Our reporter P.K. Ajith Kumar updates: Wickets continue to tumble at the Wayanad Cricket Stadium. In the first hour after lunch, Kerala, batting a second time is 45 for three, in the 20th over. The last of those wickets was taken by Axar Patel, the first for a spinner in the match. Sijomon Joseph batting on 18 and captain Sachin Baby on one. The host leads by 68.

  • Cheteshwar Pujara's Ranji return ends early as he is caught by Rahul Rawat in Shivam Mavi's bowling on 11. Saurashtra 63/3.

  • Update from Nagpur: After an impressive start, Faiz Fazal pokes at one outside off by Deepak Dhapola. At 45 for 1, Wasim Jaffer joins Sanjay in the middle.

  • Rahul Chahar sends back B.R. Sharath (4) two overs after K.V. Siddharth's wicket, caught by Mahipal Lomror. Karnataka 124/6

  • Tanvir Ul-Haq brings an end to K.V. Siddharth's vigil as he castles the Karnataka batsman batting on 52. Karnataka 119/5

  • Amol Karhadkar: " Controversy at Jamtha! Eighth ball after lunch, R Sanjay misses one from left-arm spinner Mayank Mishra, the ball raps on to his pads and umpire Sudhir Asnani raises his finger. Seconds later, while the Uttarakhand boys assemble to celebrate the wicket, Asnani reverses his decision. The Uttarakhand boys are stunned. Vidarbha 34 for no loss, Sanjay survives on 7 "

  • Chintan Gaja and Arzaan Nagwaswalla strike early for Gujarat to remove openers Mohammed Azharduddeen (0) and P. Rahul (10). Kerala 16/2, leads by 39 runs.

  • Lunch Break: K.V. Siddharth brings up his fifty in 87 balls(8x4). Shreyas Gopal batting on 14 runs. Karnataka 115/4.

  • Ankit Rajpoot on a hat-trick! He gets opener Snell Patel off a catch by Mohammed Saif and Vishvarajsinh Jadeja for a duck, caught by Upendra Yadav. Saurashtra 35/2.

  • Ashwin Achal updates: Keeper Chetan drops a regulation catch, with Siddharth on 40. Tanveer gets another edge, just goes to Chetan's right. It was quite close to him, so he could have taken it comfortably with both hands. But Chetan chucks his right hand at it and fluffs it. Bad effort, and could prove to be costly. Tanveer is disgusted.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from M.A. Chidambaram Stadium: Karun Nair and Manish Pandey both falling to terrible shots. Karun fishes outside off and edges to the keeper Chetan, while Manish pokes at a similar delivery and inside edges onto the stumps. Left-arm seamer Tanveer Ul Haq gets both wickets. He now has a whopping 49 wickets in the tournament. Karnataka 90/4.

  • P.K. Ajith Kumar updates from Wayanad: Gujarat's first innings has come to an end at the Wayanad Cricket Stadium, at 162 -- 23 runs behind Kerala. Four wickets for Sandeep Warrier, three each for Basil Thampi and M.D. Nidheesh, who was instrumental in cleaning up the tail. So all the wickets here have been taken by the quick men, that too in less than four sessions.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Nagapur: Umesh Yadav wraps up the Uttarakhand innings with a short-ball to finish with a four-wicket haul. But Uttarakhand have every reason to be proud of its total of 355.

  • More developments from Nagpur: Saurabh Rawat's impressive knock comes to an end on 108. His overambitious attempt to clear the field off Umesh Yadav results in a skier to long-off. Time for Faiz Fazal and R. Sanjay, the Vidarbha openers, to start preparing themselves for a long vigil.

  • Amol Karhadkar: " Spoke too soon. Samarth trapped LBW by leggie Rahul Chahar for 32. Flatter ball, went straight on, Samarth played down the wrong line and caught plumb in front. "

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Nagpur: Saurabh Rawat has steadily helped Uttarakhand pile the pressure on the defending champions. He has played an innings that would do any No. 6 proud to notch up his second hundred with a cut off left-arm spinner Aditya Sarvate. His hundred (151b, 13x4, 2x6) has helped Uttarakhand surge to 344 for 7.

  • Saurabh Kumar completes his fifty in 81 balls (6x4, 0x6) but he falls shortly on 55, which draws the curtains on U.P's first innings. Jayadev Unadkat finishes with a five-wicket haul (22.3-4-86-5).  Uttar Pradesh 385 all out.

  • Ashwin Achal updates  from Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru: R. Samarth, who has had a poor run this season, is looking good on 25. Samarth and Karun Nair are both due for a big score. Karnataka 53 for 1.

  • Jayadev Unadkat gets Shivam Mavi (42) and Ankit Rajpoot for a duck in the same over to take his figures to 4-78. Uttarkhand 372/9

  • P.K. Ajith Kumar updates from Wayanad:  Kerala off to a great start on another cold morning at the Wayanad Cricket Stadium, Krishnagiri. Sandeep Warrier and Basil Thampi have together taken three wickets early on the second day to reduce Gujarat, chasing Kerala's first innings of 185, is 117 for seven in the 42nd over. Piyush Chawla not out on eight, while Roosh Kalaria hasn't opened his account. Warrier's figures read particularly impressive -- 18-7-29-4. The swing bowler has now 35 wickets in this Ranji Trophy.

  • Vidarbha vs Uttarakhand: Suniket Bingewar strikes in the fifth over of the morning, trapping Mayank Mishra in front of the wickets. 310 for 7
