  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune: Shubham Ranjane has been farming the strike with last man Royston Dias for company. While his family and friends burst into loud cheer, he is busy advising Dias on how to survive a full over by Fallah.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot: No resistance whatsoever from Saurashtra. Eighth wicket, Jani, gone. Nicks Shreyas to slip. Saurashtra batting has been very poor. Shown inept technique and lack of patience.

First innings hero Jaydev Shah perishes to the sweep. Top edge once again. Karnataka players run up to congratulate Jaydev, as this is his last innings. The end of his cricket playing career. Saurashtra teammates gather around to give him a warm send off.

  •

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune:

Subhash Ranjane, the former Maharashtra pacer has a lot to cheer for, as he watches the proceedings along with his family from the stands. His protege, Samad Fallah, on Friday became Maharashtra's leading wicket-taker on day 2. And his son, Shubham, is holding fort for Mumbai despite losing Siddhesh Lad and Akash Parkar at the other end. Ranjane was confused though when Shubham despatched Fallah into the stands over long-on a few minutes ago. But Fallah got one to jag back in and uproot Dhrumil Matkar's off-stump. Maharashtra are smelling the blood now. But Ranjane would still be hoping for Shubham son to come good.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot: Devdutt Padikkal takes a superb low catch to dismiss Mankad. Offie Deshpande has his first, surely won't be his last. Deshpande, Suchith and Shreyas Gopal all set to run right through the Saurashtra batting. Match may end today (third day). Cannot see  batters surviving for long in these tough conditions.

  • Dipak Raghav updates from M.A. Chidambaram Stadium: Tamil Nadu loses its first wicket. Jalaj Saxena has Abhinav caught behind. TN 55/1. Caught the batsman by surprise.

  •

  • First victory of Round 5 as Bihar beats Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 317 runs.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot: Sheldon Jackson top edges a sweep, gone. Cross bat shots are dangerous on this pitch. Suchith one short of taking 10 wickets in the match.

Gautam Gambhir departs for a well-made 112 off 185 deliveries. Delhi 231/2 trails Andhra by 159 runs.

  •

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune:

Samad Fallah is fresh from last night's bash to celebrate his feat of having become Maharashtra's leading wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy. It takes him just the second over to break the partnership. However, umpire Shawn Craig's decision to rule Siddhesh Lad caught behind on 93 leaves the batsman and the Mumbai bench in utter dismay.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

A real shocker by umpire Barde spells doom for Barot. Thick inside edge, but given out LBW to Mithun. Barot is just aghast.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune: A bunch of kids in whites have entered the stands. And they have been clapping even for dot balls. But in the last ten minutes, they have had a lot to cheer for with Ranjane and Lad hitting two fours apiece in consecutive overs.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot:

Umpires Brad White and Yeshwant Barde will be under severe pressure today and tomorrow. Expecting many wild and exaggerated appeals from both teams. And here we go, looks like the theatrics have worked. White gives Snell out leg-before, when the ball seemed to be missing leg. Have to feel for the umpires though, players are constantly wearing them down.

  • M.J Dagar takes four wickets as Punjab in reply to Himachal Pradesh's 390 was bundled out 84.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune

  • Maharashtra has opened the attack with right-arm pacers Anupam Sanklecha and Ashay Palkar. After being patient for four overs, Shubham Ranjane drives Sanklecha through covers for the first boundary of the day.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Saurashtra loses its first wicket in just the second over. Desai tries to cut Suchith, keeper Sharath takes a terrific catch. Karnataka team is buzzing. Chants of "Keeping low, lads" from the fielders. True, but let's not forget which team is batting last in this match. Keeping low is an understatement. Half tracker from Vinay barely gets up above the batsman's knees. Overall, best to play straight. Across the line, cross bat shots are dangerous, as Desai found out.

  •

  • V.V. Subrahmanyam updates from Indore

  • Ajay Rohera eclipses Amol Mozumdar's record of 260 which was the highest score on debut in Ranji Trophy. Rohera (267 not out) and Yash Dubey (139 not out) helped MP declare at 562 for four this morning in reply to Hyderabad's 124 in Indore.

  •

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Karnataka take a leaf out of Saurashtra's book, and opens the bowling with left-arm spinner J. Suchith. Pacer Vinay Kumar bowled the first over at the other end.

Key highlights from day two action of Round 5 matches of Ranji Trophy 2018-19.

  • That would be stumps at all venues. Thanks for tuning in for the updates and do not forget to join back tomorrow.

  • V.V. Subrahmanyam updates from Indore: Ajay Rohera completes 250 with another huge six off Tanmay Agarwal as MP finishes the day at an imposing 539 for four at close on second day in reply to Hyderabad's 124. Yash Dubey was unbeaten on an equally impressive 128.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot: As predicted, Karnataka beginning to collapse. Three wickets, all taken by Jadeja, gone for 13 runs. On this difficult pitch, a wicket is never too far away. Jadeja running circles around the batters. Some of his deliveries are turning from off to the seventh stump. Karnataka eight down. Jadeja with incredible figures of seven for 97 - his best in first-class cricket. Skipper Vinay cannot handle the arm ball, plumb in front.

  • At Kotla, Gautam Gambhir and Dhruv Shorey keep Delhi ticking after the fall of Hiten Dalal on 58, in reply to Andhra's first innings score of 390.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune: Aditya Tare had switched gears after the break and was set to convert his second successive fifty into a hundred. But against the run of play, he misses a sweep off left-arm spinner Satyajeet Bachhav to be plumb in front of the wickets. Tare dismissed for 63. Mumbai 143 for 2

  • At Mohali, Punjab struggling at 22 for 4 in reply to Himachal's 390. Guleria picks two, Dagar one as Yuvraj Singh is run out.

  • At Wayanad, Sikkim 3 for 1 in the third session of the day after Puducherry declared its first innings at 647 for 8.

  • V.V. Subrahmanyam updates from Indore: Ajay Rohera reaches a brilliant double century with a pull for a six off pacer Mohammad Murassir, MP 424 for 4 in reply to Hyderbad's 124 in the final session of second day.

  • V.V. Subrahmanyam updates from Indore: Madhya Pradesh go into tea break at a commanding position of 396 for four with Ajay Rohera on 187 and Yash Dubey on 55, the two putting on 118-run stand for the fifth wicket to give the team an imposing lead of 272 with six wickets in hand vs Hyderabad.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot: A. Barot at first slip fluffs a low chance. Deshpande on 5, survives. Must say the Saurashtra fielding has been pretty ordinary so far.

  • V.V. Subrahmanyam updates from Indore: Yash Dubey completes a fine half century as MP piles on the agony for Hyderabad 390 for 4 before tea break, Ajay Rohera going strong on 186.

  • While we were wondering about the Maharashtra derby, Amol Karhadkar promptly drops in with his updates from Pune: Jay Bista threw it away soon after lunch, mistiming a pull off Samad Fallah, but since then, Aditya Tare and Siddhesh Lad were sailing comfortably. Out of the blue, debutant all-rounder created a chance, with Lad mistiming a pull. But Satyajeet Bachhav spills a simple catch at square-leg. Lad survives on 28, Mumbai 77 for 1.

  • Something interesting has happened at Rajkot, Ashwin Achal with the updates: Chirag Jani puts down a catch at point. KV Siddharth, batting on 5, skies Jadeja high towards point. Jani first runs into umpire Yeshwant Barde, and then fluffs the chance. Jadeja is very unhappy. Umpire Barde late to react and get out of the way. Secondly, unsure why he was standing at point and not square leg. Both right handed batsmen at the crease, so no need to stay at point. Either way, Jani should have taken the regulation catch. Barde, meanwhile, moves to square leg now. The drop doesn't matter, because Jadeja gets Siddharth to edge a full delivery to second slip. Karnataka in danger of collapsing and conceding a big lead.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune

  • Royston Dias winds up the Maharashtra tail in no time to end an impressive morning for the bowling unit. Maharashtra have lost seven wickets for 54 runs today to be bowled out for 352. Mumbai openers now have to see off 20-odd minutes before lunch to make it a perfect morning for the team.

  • V.V. Subrahmanyan updates from Indore

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Karnataka openers Samarth and Nischal seriously tested. Brilliant aggressive tactics by Saurashtra to attack with spinners so early. Both batters look very nervous. Expect the first wicket to fall soon.

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune

  • Parkar continues to shine all over the field. First, a rocket throw from deep on the off-side combined with Maharashtra captain Rahul Tripathi's casual running resulted in the latter being run out. Six balls later, Aditya Tare didn't miss a regulation catch offered by Rohit Motwani off Parkar. At 325 for 6, Maharashtra in danger of wasting the good work of top order on the opening day.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Amol Karhadkar updates from Pune

  • Mumbai seamers are using the second ball much better than the first. With the red cherry barely five overs old at the start of the day's play, Akash Parkar struck in the fourth over. Jay Pande added six runs to his overnight score of 68 before Parkar uprooted his off-stump. Had Jay Bista at first slip not dropped Rohit Motwani off Royston Dias in the next over, Maharashtra would have been in dire straits.

  • Ashwin Achal updates from Rajkot

  • Makvana last man to go. Plants his front foot outside off and tries to sweep Suchith. Misses it completely and loses middle stump. 316 is a good total, given that Saurashtra was at 119/5 at one stage.

  • Interesting team selection by Karnataka. Karun and Samarth predictably come in, replacing batsman Kaunian Abbas and pacer Ronit More. That leaves Karnataka with only 4 Frontline bowlers - Vinay, Mithun, Suchith and Shreyas. That's a heavy workload for the foursome, especially considering that the Saurashtra CA stadium pitch generally favours batting. Karun and Samarth likely to fill in with their part-time bowling. Spin introduced in just the fourth over. Left-arm orthodox J. Suchith is in. Odd to see a team play an extra batsman on a batting wicket. All-rounder K. Gowtham was set to join the team for this match, but a late injury to Washington Sundar meant that Gowtham was included as a replacement for Sundar in the India A one-day team in New Zealand. Karnataka captain Vinay Kumar could have really used Gowtham's off-spin and handy batting on this pitch.
