Karnataka needs 87 runs on the final day.

4:10 pm: Bad light stops play! It could be relief for Karnataka, which is looking down the barrel. At the end of 43 overs, Karnataka 111/7; V Kumar 19* (29), S Gopal* 1 (10); Gurbani 4/35.

3:53 pm: Gurbani! He strikes again, that's a plumb dismissal. Gowtham 1 (7) has no choice but walk; Karnataka 104/7; 94 runs more. Gurbani has picked up four wickets and Karnataka has made life difficult for themselves. Bengal had a similar collapse yesterday, against Delhi. But that's the beauty of long form cricket. Shreyas Gopal walks in.

3:47 pm: WICKET! Gurbani is celebrating but Gautam isn’t convinced. Wadkar has taken the catch but the batsmen believes there was no bat to it. There was a deflection and the keeper thought it’s an edge. Nonetheless, he has started to walk and that’s the sixth wicket down for Karnataka. Gautam c Wadkar b Gurbani 24 (53); Karnataka 100/6.

3:37 pm: Karnataka need 100 more runs. Kumar seems to be having a positive approach. He has already hit a six and a four in his short stay so far. Ideally, Karnataka shouldn't be leaving it till Day 5. At the end of 37 overs, Karnataka 98/5.

3:15 pm: WICKET| Gurbani strikes again, traps Binny. He is out for a duck; Karnataka reeling at 87/5. Skipper Vinay Kumar joins Gautam.

3:12 pm: WICKET! Nair tries to play it away from his body but gets an edge, caught by Wadkar off Gurbani 30 (41); Karnataka 81/4.

Tea update, Ashwin Achal reports: Vidarbha stormed back into contention with three wickets in the
session. Umesh Yadav – bowling at full tilt – took a low one-handed caught and bowled to dismiss Mayank Agarwal. R. Samarth was given out leg before to Siddhesh Neral. A frustrated Samarth was
sure it took an inside edge. This is not the first time that umpire Paschim Pathak has given a contentious decision in the match. Pathak has the tendency to give instant decisions — the finger is raised even
before the appeal is completed. He is not one to take a couple of seconds to evaluate the merits and demerits of an appeal. D. Nischal struggled, and left caught-behind poking at a Neral ball outside off.

At tea, Karnataka 69/3; Nair 24 (36), Gautam 10 (28)

2:40 pm: Nair is working it around well and stealing boundaries at regular intervals; Karnataka 69/3.

2:30 pm: Nair and Gautam shared a 139-run stand for the fourth wicket in the first innings. Now, they are looking to build a similar partnership. At the end of 26 overs, Karnataka 60/3; it still needs 138 runs more.

1:52 pm: WICKET! Neral is on a roll! Nischal c Wadkar b Neral 7 (44). Karnataka is living life on the edge; 40/3 at the end of 20 overs.

1:50 pm: Neral breaks Samarth's resistance, traps him in front of the wicket. Samarth departs for 24 (65) balls; Karnataka 35/2. Karun Nair, the star of the first innings, is out in the middle

1:30 pm: Nischal and Samarth are taking it slow. It's a dot ball fest happening here. At the end of 16 overs, Karnataka 34/1; Samarth 23* (52), Nischal 7* (36); Karnataka needs 164 runs more to seal a spot in the final against Delhi.

1:10 pm: Nischal and Samarth are looking to form a partnership here. At the end of nine overs, Karnataka 25/1; they still need 173 runs.

12:45 pm: This is clearly not Mayank's match. OUT! He is surprised, takes a look at the wicket and starts walking. The right-hander mistimed his flick, which caught the edge of this bat, Yadav stretched his right hand to take a brilliant catch; Karnataka 7/1.

12:30 pm: Mayank Agarwal, the man of this season, is out with the bat. Since he failed in the first innings, he will look to create an impact; with him, is R Samarth, who couldn't shine with the bat earlier too.

Lunch break, Vidarbha 313 all out (Lead: 197)

Our correspondent, Ashwin Achal, reports:  Fruitful ninth and tenth wickets partnerships frustrated Karnataka this morning. Aditya Sarwate and Umesh Yadav put on 38 runs (ninth wicket), followed by a 30-run partnership between Sarwate and Rajneesh Gurbani.

The Karnataka bowlers were guilty of not attacking the stumps, when Umesh and Gurbani took strike. Vinay Kumar finally got Sarwate leg-before, but the batsman complained that he got bat to it. Vinay
then gathered his men for a huddle, and spoke for nearly five minutes. If the openers R. Samarth and Mayank Agarwal get going, things will become easy for Karnataka. But if Vidarbha manage to pick up a few early wickets, the match could witness a thrilling finish.

11:50 am: OUT! Vinay Kumar traps Sarwate 55 (92) in front of the wicket.; Vidarbha 313 all out. The target for Karnataka is 198. It seems easy, but could be tricky.

11:40 am: Sarwate continues his fine form, reaches his fifty. He was also the highest scorer in the first innings with 47; Vidarbha 312/9 (Lead: 196).

11:30 am: And that's 300 up for Vidarbha!

11:15 am: Sarwate is putting up a great fight here, these could be bonus runs and may cost Karnataka if the wicket plays spoilsport in the fourth innings. He moves to 41; Vidarbha 293/9 (Lead: 177).

11:05 am: And that's the end of Yadav. Shreyas Gopal breaks the partnership that looked like gaining steam. It was a googly which caught the inside edge of Yadav, who departs for 13 off 14, an innings that also saw a six; Vidarbha 287/9.

10:50 am: Sarwate 29* and Yadav 11* are in no mood to give up. They are holding their nerves and adding to the lead. Good show of confidence by the lower order; Vidarbha 274/8. (Lead:

10:30 am: WICKET! S Neral c Mayank Agarwal b Vinay Kumar 12 (20); Vidarbha 245/8. This brings in the star India player, Umesh Yadav, to the crease.

10:19 am: At the end of 63 overs, Vidarbha 235/7; leads by 119 runs. If it is to look for a win, it needs to have a minimum lead of 250. With Satish dismissed, chances look bleak for Vidarbha.

Stuart Binny was instrumental with the new ball this morning for Karnataka, he returned with figures of 3/74.   -  G.P. SAMPATH KUMAR

10:05 am: Binny has switched on the 'destroy' mode. He picks his second wicket of the day. A Wakhare c R Samarth b Binny 0 (1); Vidarbha 228/7.

10:00 am: WICKET! Oh my! It looks like this match is about to get to a result today itself. Satish, the main man, is out. Abhimanyu Mithun, the star of the first innings, gets the wicket. Satish mistimes a pull and finds Aravind, who follows the ball in the air, and stages a perfect finish. Satish 81 (168); Vidarbha 224/6.

9:50 am: WICKET! Stuart Binny picks up Wadkar on the first ball of his spell. He could have been introduced a bit earlier in the day to avoid the bonus runs. Nonetheless, the delivery was pitched outside off, Wadkar gets an edge and finds Nair at first slip. He goes for 28 (59); Vidarbha 222/5.

9:30 am: It is a fresh morning and fresh start from Vidarbha. Ganesh Satish raised some new hopes for Vidarbha here. Accompanying him is Akshay Wadkar.
