Group A

Maharashtra vs Karnataka

. A splendid, counterattacking 120 off merely 114 balls by Rahul Tripathi wasn’t enough for host Maharashtra to post a substantial first innings lead against Karnataka at Pune. Visiting captain R. Vinay Kumar took six for 59 in the Maharashtra first innings total of 245. Apart from Tripathi, the only home batsman to go past 12 as Naushad Shaikh (69). The duo added 147 for the sixth wicket.

. Karnataka’s morning here, but Maharashtra is fighting back with an unbroken sixth-wicket stand. After winning the toss, the visiting side’s seamers have exploited the conditions at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Ground to send half the host’s batsmen back to pavilion inside 13 overs.

Skipper Vinay Kumar has picked up four wickets, with his new-ball partner Abhimanyu Mithun taking the other. The host, however, is kept alive in the match by Rahul Tripathi (65 not out off 59 balls) and Naushad Shaikh (46 not out off 77 balls). They have added 115 so far.[ Preview ]

Delhi vs Uttar Pradesh :

Saif continues to hold fort at one end but regular strikes by Delhi bowlers have resigned UP to 5 for 187.

No. 3 Mohammad Saif has scored a half-century to help Uttar Pradesh secure a bright start against Delhi at Palam. UP 137 for 2. [ Preview ]

Railways vs Hyderabad :

Sandeep and Ambati Rayudu have steered Hyderabad to 211 for 3, with the latter raising his half-century in 90 balls.

Opener Akshath Reddy scores 69 as Hyderabad reaches 139 for 3 in 49 overs of play at Karnail Singh Stadium in New Delhi. Railways won the toss and chose to field. [ Preview ]

Group B

Saurashtra vs Jharkhand :

Pujara's 105 off 187 balls has put Saurashtra in a commanding position at Rajkot.

Cheteshwar Pujara's half-century has taken Saurashtra to 194 for 4 after winning the toss and deciding to bat in Rajkot.

Gujarat vs Haryana : Gujarat, after winning the toss and choosing to bat at Valsad, has lost six wickets for 149 in Valsad. Captain Amit Mishra is the wrecker-in-chief with three scalps.

Kerala vs Jammu and Kashmir : Kerala won the toss and chose to bat at Thiruvananthapuram. [ Preview ]

Group C

Odisha vs Mumbai

. Odisha medium pacers have made a strong comeback in the latter half of the day to leave Mumbai in a spot of bother. The 41-time champion team ends the opening day at 264 for six after being inserted into bat. If Mumbai has to earn full points, captain Aditya Tare and all-rounder Akash Parkar will have to bat sensibly on the second day.

. Ajinkya Rahane is deprived of celebrating his return to Ranji Trophy after four years with a fifty. On 49, his swat off Suryakant Pradhan outside off stump results in a nick to the keeper. Mumbai 174 for 3.

. Prithvi Shaw's innings is cut short with Basant Mohanty trapping him in front of the wickets. Suryakumar Yadav joins Rahane in the middle. Mumbai 156 for 2.

. Prithvi Shaw hits Biplab Samantaray over covers to complete his fourth first-class hundred in five games

. Left-arm spinner Dheeraj Singh welcomed with six boundaries in his first three overs as Mumbail cruises to 119 for 1 at lunch. Prithvi Shaw batting on 73, Ajinkya Rahane on 30.

. Akhil Herwadkar may have shouldered arms to fetch old warhorse Basant Mohanty his 300th first-class wicket, but since then rookie Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane have looked solid till the drinks break. Mumbai 52 for 1. [ Preview ]

Andhra vs Madhya Pradesh

. Madhya Pradesh finishes day one on 219 for 5; Naman Ojha and captain Devendra Bundela anchoring the innings to stumps. For Andhra, Prithvi Yarra was the pick of the bowlers, claming three for 35 from 14 overs.

. Andhra made further inroads in the third session, reducing MP to 174 for five in 74 overs. Yarra Prithvi Raj (three for 35) was the pick of the home side's bowlers.

. At tea, Madhya Pradesh had made 141 for three against Andhra on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy match. K.V. Sasikanth took catches in the fine leg region and mid off to send back Rajat Paditar (37) and Shubham Sharma (60) respectively

. Andhra opted to field on a firm, bouncy track against Madhya Pradesh at the Dr. P.V.G. Raju-ACA Sports Complex on Wednesday. Left-arm medium pacer Yarra Prithvi Raj made the most of the morning conditions, his chest high delivery taking Aditya Shrivastava’s edge to stumper K.S. Bharat. [ Preview ]

Baroda vs Tripura :

Baroda 304/5 at stumps on day one. Vishnu Solanki's well crafted 116 coupled with Karambelkar's unbeaten 75 has put Baroda in the driver's seat.

Vishnu Solanki (104 N.O.) and Abhijit Karambelkar (62 N.O.) have thwarted Tripura's surge, driving Baroda to 271 for 4.

Tripura won the toss and chose to field at Vadodara.

Group D

Vidarbha vs Services : Vidarbha openers Faiz Fazal and S. R. Ramaswamy put on 148-run partnership after the team won the toss at VCA Stadium, Nagpur. Services claimed its first wicket of the day- that of Ramaswamy (55).

Chhattisgarh vs Punjab :

. Captain Jiwanjot and Uday Kaul have calmed Punjab's nerves after the early dismissal of Manan Vohra. Punjab 57 for 1 at stumps on day one.

.Manpreet Singh's four-for restricted Chhatisgarh to a modest first innings score of 238. In response, Punjab is one down for 36; Manan Vohra falling to S S Kharwar for eight. 

.Chhattisgarh won the toss and chose to bat at Raipur.

Bengal vs Himachal

. Bengal closed the day one against HP at 306 for five. Abhishek Raman scored his maiden first class hundred (176 off 242 balls, 29x4) and Manoj Tiwary scored a useful half-century (78 batting off 132 balls). Himachal could bowl 86 overs after which play was stopped due to bad light.

. Bengal was at 228 for three at tea on day one of the Ranji Trophy Group D match against Himachal. Opener Abhishek Raman scored his maiden century (136 not out) and captain Manoj Tiwary (43 not out) forged a 92-run unbroken stand for the fourth wicket to strengthen the host's position. Bengal scored 123 runs in the second session for the loss of Koushik Ghosh's wicket.

Bengal was 105/2 in 33 overs after the first session of day one. Abhishek Raman (62) and Koushik Ghosh (22) were at crease and contributed in a good recovery after the fall of A. Easwaran (4) and Sudip Chatterjee (15) within 44 runs inside 12 overs.

. Bengal reached 100 runs (102/2) in 30.1 overs after being asked bat first by Himachal Pradesh on day one of Group D Ranji Trophy match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Abhishek Raman (61) and Koushik Ghosh (21) put on a 50-plus partnership for third wicket.[ Preview ]
