Vidarbha’s maiden Ranji Trophy title win in pictures

A pictorial look at the key figures, and the winning moments, in Vidarbha bagging its maiden Ranji Trophy title.

Rajneesh Gurbani celebrates with his team-mates after trapping the experienced Gautam Gambhir in front of his stumps on day four, to reduce Delhi, trailing by 252 at the start of its second innings, to 50 for two. He picked up another important wicket, of Nitish Rana (64), to put Vidarbha on the road to victory. For his match figures of eight for 151, Gurbani bagged the man of the match award in the Ranji Trophy final 2017/18. Nitish Rana (64) and Dhruv Shorey (62) shared a 114-run third-wicket partnership to give Delhi a chance of taking a substantial lead and putting pressure on Vidarbha in the fourth innings. However, they fell in quick succession in the middle session on day four and Vidarbha went on to bowl Delhi out for 280 in the second innings, conceding a lead of only 28. Rana and Shorey's partnership proved inconsequential in the end. Photo: PTI
Akshay Wadkar's 133 in the first innings and the partnerships he shared with Aditya Sarwate (79) and Siddesh Neral (74) helped Vidarbha take a huge first-innings lead which ultimately paved the way for its maiden Ranji Trophy title win. For 23-year-old Wadkar, this could be a coming-of-age innings. Photo: PTI
