A second consecutive century opening stand between M. Kaushik Gandhi and Washington Sundar set up a ten-wicket win for defending champion Albert Tuti Patriots over Ruby Trichy Warriors in the India Cements Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) at the NPRCET grounds here on Wednesday.
M. Kaushik Gandhi and Washington Sundar continued where they left off against Dindigul Dragons. Washington smashed two fours and a six of M. Prabhu in the second over to put the pressure straightaway on Ruby Trichy Warriors. Kaushik Gandhi followed suit as he smashed the same bowler for a hat-trick of boundaries as Albert Tuti Patriots raced to 66 for no loss after six overs.
Ruby Trichy Warriors, like Madurai Super Giant on Tuesday, began to wilt under pressure as their bowling and fielding looked listless. The gulf in the skill level of the two teams was evident. The two openers operated differently. The short and compact Kaushik was all about deft touches while the tall Washington Sunder used his stride to a good effect. Both players milked the bowling to bring their second consecutive century stand in as many matches as Albert Tuti Patriots romped home in the sixteenth over.
Brief scores:
Ruby Trichy Warriors 120 in 18.5 overs (K. Bharath Shankar 40, Baba Indrajith 30) lost to Albert Tuti Patriots124 for no loss in 15.3 overs (M. Kaushik Gandhi 72 n.o., Washington Sundar 49 n.o.).
