In the just concluded Deodhar Trophy, Umesh Yadav was one of the best performers. The India international pacer scalped five wickets in three matches to help India B clinch the title. And when his home team, Vidarbha, takes on Rest of India in a Irani Cup match in Nagpur from Wednesday, Umesh will be spearheading the pace attack for the Ranji Trophy champion side.

While the Vidarbha selectors are to name the squad later on Monday,  Sportstar  has learnt that the team which won the Ranji Trophy title, beating Delhi, will be fielded for the Irani Cup fixture.

While there was a bit of doubt over Lalit Yadav's fitness, he has also been cleared for the tie."It would be great to have Umesh in the side and he has been quite good in the Deodhar Trophy, that form will help us as well," Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal said on Sunday.

It is learnt that another veteran, Wasim Jaffer, will also be available for the fixture, which promises to be quite exciting.

The Rest of India players will reach Nagpur on Monday evening and would hit the ground for training on Tuesday.

While there's no word on how the wicket will be, it is believed that the track could help the batsmen. At a time when summer is setting in, it is difficult to produce green tops, and both the sides will have to count more on the batters.

After winning the winning the Ranji Trophy, Vidarbha failed to impress in the limited overs format. And now, with Irani Cup coming it's way, Vidarbha will be hoping to finish the season on a happy note.
