Remaining fixtures in the tournament

HP 208/5 in 45.3 overs:
Himachal gets past the finish line. A couple of hiccups along the way didn't matter in the end as UP's below-par total could not offer much support for its bowlers. Prashant Chopra's mature knock propelled the chase for Himachal before he holed out on an unlucky 99.

(Updates every 5 overs)

KAR vs TN: KAR 203- All out: Tamil Nadu bowlers have matched up to their batters to thump Karnataka, fair and square. 355 was never an easy target and the result is there to see. TN put out an early jolt for Pandey's men as they lost Padikkal for nought in the second over. Despite a revival staged by Rohan Kadam and Siddharth KV, TN's nagging precision with the ball helped it chip in with regular wickets to get the job done quickly.

Earlier in the day, opener Jagadeesan started things off for TN with a brilliant century in the first innings alongside a fine half-century from Sai Kishore. Dinesh Karthik came in handy with his cameo knock. Then came Shahrukh Khan, who punished the Karnataka bowlers once again. His 39 ball 79 ensured that Tamil Nadu crossed the 350-run mark, a total well above the average. Onto the semifinals now!

UPDATE: WICKET! It's a heartbreaking end to Chopra's inngings as he is out on 99. HP 190/4

UPDATE: WICKET! It's all over for Karnataka. Washington gets the final wicket. Tamil Nadu into the Semifinals. KAR 203- all out

UPDATE: WICKET! Silambarasan gets his 4th wicket. KAR 193/9

UPDATE: WICKET! Ankit Rajpoot picks up another wicket. This time it's Rishi Dhawan. HP 180/3

UPDATE: WICKET! Gangta is out bowled. Ankit Rajpoot gets a wicket. HP 176/2

UPDATE: WICKET! Washington strikes again. Removes KC Cariappa. KAR190/8

UPDATE: WICKET! S Sharath is dismissed caught behind. Silambarasan gets another wicket. KAR 189/7

HP 151/1 after 30 overs: Looks like an easy chase is on the cards for Himachal. Chopra and Gangta have taken the game away from Uttar Pradesh.

UPDATE: WICKET! Pravin Dubey caught at square leg. Washington gets a wicket. KAR 175/6

UPDATE: DROPPED! Silambarasan has dropped Dubey at square leg. Dubey was on 20. KAR 162/5

HP  in 35 overs:

KAR 142/5 after 27 overs: S Sharath and Pravin Dubey are in the middle, trying to build a partnership. TN on the other hand will look for a breakthrough. The target looks impossible to reach at the moment.

HP 111/1 after 30 overs: The Gangta-Chopra pair have picked up pace. They are looking to steady the chase and cross the line comfortably.

KAR 131/5 after 25 overs: The pressure of chasing a huge target has put Karnataka on the backfoot as it is five wickets down for just 131 runs. Still a long way to go. TN bowlers are keeping it tight.

UPDATE: WICKET! Abhinav Manohar pulls to mid on. Silambarasan gets his 2nd wicket. KAR 120/5

HP 88/1 after 25 overs: The required run-rate is increasing steadily. Himachal batters are taking it slow, this strategy could have dire consequences.

HP 72/1 after 22 overs: Chopra and Gangta look to ease things for Himachal. The match could go either side if HP fails to keep the scoreboard ticking. Meanwhile, UP will be looking for a wicket.

KAR 81/4 after 15 overs: Karnataka had a good start despite Padikkal's duck, maintaining a healthy run-rate but has failed to capitalise it and has lost three wickets at regular intervals. TN bowlers are finding the right spots and taking wickets constantly.

UPDATE: WICKET! M Siddharth strikes. Removes captain Manish Pandey caught at long off. KAR 74/4

UPDATE: WICKET! Shubham Arora skies one and is out caught. Shivam Mavi with the breakthrough. HP 54/1

UPDATE: WICKET! KV Siddharth hit straight to Shahrukh at long-on. Sai Kishore strikes. KAR 69/3

UPDATE: WICKET! Rohan Kadam goes. Brilliant return catch by Silambarasan. Crucial wicket. KAR 59/2

HP 46-0 in 15 overs: Lots of swing and some disciplined bowling as well, but no wicket has fallen. The openers have scored some boundaries as well, and it’s looking ominous now for UP.

KAR vs TN: 36-1 in 6 overs: Karnataka looks to keep the momentum going after Padikkal got out without scoring a run. TN bowlers have to be economical as they have already conceded 8 runs just from extras.

HP 22/0 in 10 overs: Himachal openers keep their anchors down in the chase. Yash Dayal was able to get some movement even as Bhuvneshwar Kumar seemed to represent a pale shadow of his usual self. Bhuvi was consistently low on pace, with speeds languishing consistently below 120kph.

KAR 0/1: WICKET! Padikkal falls for a second-ball duck. Warrier strikes in his first over for TN.

KAR 0-0  in 1 over: Rohan and Padikkal in the middle for Karnataka. Washington Sundar starts with the new ball. Karnataka needs to score right from the get go, but has failed to open the scoring in the first over.

HP 2-0 in 1 over: Arora and Chopra nudge about as Bhuvneshwar begins with a tight first over.

KAR vs TN: Rohan Kadam and Devdutt Padikkal begin the proceedings for Karnataka as they prepare to chase down a hefty target.

HP vs UP: Arora and Chopra are at the middle for HP. Bhuvneshwar up with the new ball and he'll need to make some early inroads here for UP to get hold of its defence.

Back for the chase!

KAR vs TN:  354-8 at the end of 50 overs: A stellar finish for Tamil Nadu. Jagadeesan led the innings with a century and he was soon followed up by Sai Kishore's well-compiled fifty. Dinesh Karthik chipped in with his cameo of 44 and then came Shahrukh Khan's blitzkrieg. Shahrukh went on to score 79 from 39 balls which included 7 fours and 6 sixes. A complete team effort has put TN on the driver's seat with a mammoth total of 354 to its name. It would take an extraordinary effort from Karnataka to chase down this target.

UP vs HP: 207-9 at the end of 50 overs: An underwhelming score in the end from UP. Neither Nath nor Rinku Singh stuck till the end, Rinku losing his wicket attempting to turn a delivery from Jaswal to the leg side and closing the face of his bat too early. Some hard running between the wickets and the odd lusty blow, including a six in the final over, takes UP to a modest 207/9 in 50 overs.

UPDATE: WICKETS!
TN has lost wickets in quick succession yet again. Washington Sundar run out and M Siddharth out caught.  TN 303-8

UPDATE; WICKET! Shivam Sharma is run out. Direct hit from Pankaj Jaiswal has done the trick for HP. UP 195-8

UPDATE: WICKET! Shivam Mavi is out caught by Chopra. UP continues to lose wickets. UP 194-7

UPDATE: KAR vs TN 262-5: Tamil Nadu has lost three wickets in quick succession. N Jagadeesan fell shortly after a breezy century. Dinesh Karthik was out caught by Karnataka skipper Manish Pandey and skipper Vijay Shankar was out LBW for just one run. Pravin Dubey was the star bowler, picking up all three wickets.

UP vs HP: 110-5 after 35 overs : Uttar Pradesh loses another wicket and is five wickets down now. Rinku Singh must bat till the end to help UP reach a decent score. Himachal Pradesh's bowlers have been outstanding today, bowling the right lengths with subtle variations.

UPDATE:
TN goes past 200, thanks to the brilliant partnership between Jagadeesan and Sai Kishore. With Dinesh Karthik in the middle, TN will be looking to capitalise the situation and finish its innings with a very competitive score.

UPDATE: WICKET! Akshdeep Nath is out caught. Sidharth Sharma among the wickets as UP is on the back foot, again. Bhuvneshwar Kumar walks out to bat.

TN vs KAR: 184-2 after 30 overs: Dinesh Karthik is in the middle with Jagadeesan after Sai Kishore was out caught. Things still looking positive for Tamil Nadu as they march towards the 200-run mark.

UP vs HP: 96-4 after 30 overs: Rinku singh and Akshdeep Nath with a 57-run partnership. They are looking to stabilise the innings. Both the batters look settled now while HP aims to continue the wicket spree.

UPDATE: WICKET! Finally a breakthrough for Karnataka as Sai Kishore is out caught. K C Cariappa provides his team, a much needed wicket.

TN vs KAR: 137-1 after 25 overs: Tamil Nadu batters are looking pretty comfortable at the moment. With both the batters crossing their fiftes, TN will be looking to reach the 300-run mark, surely.

UP vs HP: 70-4 after 25 overs: Aksh Deep Nath and Rinku Singh are battling it out in the middle. With a chance missed, Himachal is desperate for a wicket, the bowlers have been consistently bowling at the right areas and it looks like a wicket is around the corner.

UPDATE: Fifty for Tamil Nadu batter Sai Kishore. A carefully constructed innings from the left hander.

UP vs HP: 64-4 in 23 overs: A little bit of luck there in favour of Aksh Deep Nath, as a chance for a caught behind goes down. Could have been disastrous for UP.

KAR vs TN: 81-1 after 15 overs: After losing opening batter Aparajith early, TN batters have stabilised the innings. Jagadeesan and Sai Kishore are looking to build a good partnership.V Vyshak with a solitary wicket

UP vs HP: 41-4 after 15 overs: It's going from bad to worse for UP as they lose another wicket. Sameer Rizvi out LBW. Galetiya is on song, he has picked up three crucial wickets at regular intervals keeping UP on it's toes and building up the pressure.

UPDATE: WICKET! It's Galetiya again, he's breathing fire. Hits Sameer Rizvi on the pads.

UP VS  HP: 31-3 in 10 overs: What seemed like a slow start has now turned into a disaster. UP lost three of it's batters in consecutive overs. Galetiya has been brilliant with the ball, picking two wickets in the same over.

UPDATE: WICKET! Abhishek Goswami departs for 17 . Sidharth Sharma picks up a wicket in his first over.

UP VS HP: 27-0 in 7 overs: Some plays and misses, a near run-out, and lots of noise from the fielders. Yet, UP hasn’t lost a wicket. Both seamers have bowled well and got the batters to drive. A testing first hour this, for Abhishek Goswami and Aryan Juyal.

UPDATE: WICKET! V Vyshak among the wickets. Aparajith hits it straight to S Sharath. Tamil Nadu 28-1.

KAR VS TN: 24-0 in 5 overs: Jagadeesan and Aparajith in the middle, building a partnership.

UP VS HP: 22-0 in 5 overs: The UP openers are taking it slow and steady. Goswami keeps the scorecard ticking with a couple of beautiful shots through the cover region.

KAR VS TN: 3-0 in 1 over: N Jagadeesan and B Aparajith open the innings. Prasidh Krishna with the ball.

UP VS HP: 1-0 in 1 over: Abhishek Goswami and Aryan Juyal are the openers. V K Galetiya bowls a tidy over conceding just one.

PREVIEW - Karnataka vs Tamil Nadu

The Southern Derby featuring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka is always one of the most keenly awaited clashes on the domestic calendar irrespective of the format.

In the white-ball format, the two sides have met quite a few times in recent times, including three finals in the last two years.

In the 2019-20 season, Karnataka had beaten TN in the finals of both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. However, earlier last month, TN pulled off a sensational win against Karnataka with a last-ball six from M. Shahrukh Khan and clinched its second T20 title in as many years.

READ:

The two sides will clash once again, this time in the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur on Tuesday.

The sides met in the group stages of this competition in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this month where TN coasted to an easy eight-wicket win after bowling out Karnataka for just 122 led by its spinners.

However, the conditions here are diametrically opposite to the one the teams got in the league stages.

While TN reached the last eight directly, Karnataka had to beat Rajasthan in the pre-quarters which they did comprehensively on Sunday. In a way, the game time at the K.L. Saini Stadium - where the two teams will clash on Tuesday - will give Karnataka the edge in terms of knowledge of conditions.

ALSO READ:

The one change for TN will be the return of B. Aparajith, who missed the league stages due to India ‘A’ duties. He possesses a solid technique and would have to play a vital role as an opener to see off the new ball against the likes of pacers V Vyshak and Prasidh Krishna. TN lost its last two matches in the league stage and the team will be hoping to get back on track on Tuesday.

Speaking ahead of the match, TN coach M. Venkatramana said, “an area we need to improve is to be more consistent with our bowling. Similarly, one batsman needs to play long innings and score a hundred so that others can bat around.” - S. Dipak Ragav

PREVIEW - UP vs HP

After adapting well to the demands of 50-over cricket in sultry Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh will play in conditions vastly different when it faces Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Tuesday.

A win will send the team into the semifinals for the first time in six years.

Executing a recalibrated team strategy based on the conditions will be made more difficult by the fact that the team will be playing after a week’s break, and captain Rishi Dhawan’s performance with bat and ball will again be key to its chances of success against a mightier opponent.

READ:

Dhawan, who last played for India in 2016, has hit a purple patch in recent weeks in white-ball cricket. He has single-handedly ensured his team a berth in the knockouts with his all-round performance, but his batting form is especially noteworthy as he already has 332 runs under his belt in the tournament, an excellent tally considering he comes in to bat in the middle order. His scores in the group stage read: 61, 44, 57, 71 and 91 n.o.

His team will heavily lean on him also to make early breakthroughs in favourable conditions if it bowls first.

Dhawan made useful contributions with bat and ball both times his team made it to the knockout rounds of a white-ball tourney – the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020-21 as well as in 2021-22. But such reliance on one man makes the team vulnerable during games in which he doesn’t perform to his expectations.

ALSO READ:

Uttar Pradesh, on the other hand, has a number of players to look up to, despite the absence of batter Upendra Yadav and left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar, both of whom toured South Africa to play for India ‘A’.

Aksh Deep Nath was the leading run-getter for UP in the last season, when UP made it to the final, and it bodes well for the side that he has returned to form with a vital knock under pressure against Madhya Pradesh in the pre-quarterfinals. Rinku Singh, the other star from last season, is also among the runs.

ALSO READ:

Moreover, its fast-bowling department looks potent. Its x-factor this season has been the left-arm seamer Yash Dayal, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ankit Rajpoot are also sharp weapons in the arsenal.

If UP makes it to the semifinals, new coach Vijay Dahiya will have ensured his first success. The team managed just two wins in five matches in the 2021-22 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

After its exciting win on Sunday, the team took the day off on Monday, while Himachal Pradesh had a net practice at the Rajasthan Cricket Association premises here.
