Looking down and almost out, Punjab found match-winners in the Gurkeerat Mann (69 not out) and Manpreet Grewal (46 not out) as the two raised 80 runs for the eighth-wicket and snatched a three-wicket victory from the grasp of Railways at the Palam ground here.

Chasing 247, Punjab looked lost at 167 for seven when Harbhajan Singh departed. But Grewal proved an able ally to Mann and the duo took the team past the finish line with five deliveries to spare.

This much-needed victory kept Punjab (8 points) in the hunt for the quarterfinal spots in the seven-team Group ‘A’.

At the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Baroda’s batsmen did the job after chasing down Odisha’s challenging 281. Leader Baroda’s third victory in four matches raised its tally to 12 points.

Baroda’s owed it to opener Aditya Waghmode who scored 92 off 82 deliveries and Deepak Hooda’s unbeaten 78 off 63 balls.

At the Karnail Singh Stadium, the match was reduced to 49 overs a side after the pitch had not dried up in time following last evening’s watering. Shockingly, this was the second time in three matches that the play could not resume on time.

Once the action began, Haryana rode on Shubham Rohilla’s 118 and posted 306 for six and easily stopped Assam 53 runs short.
