Chasing 232, Andhra got to 72 for one in 10 overs. Opener D. B. Prashant Kumar was out early, trapped leg before by Dhawal Kulkarni. In the 40 runs added for the second wicket stand, M.U.B. Sriram scored only three runs, while Bharat scored the rest barring two extras. Bharat hit 64 (46b, 10x4, 1x6) in all and was eventually caught at cover by Shivam Dube while trying to cut a Shardul Thakur delivery.

The rest of the batsmen offered meek resistance as Andhra folded for 188. Only Hanuma Bihari scored more than 30 (33, 68b, 3x4).

Put in to bat, Mumbai's 231 for eight had at its core a 69-run fifth wicket partnership between Aditya Tare and Siddhesh Lad (55, 65b, 4x4, 1x6), and a 76-run sixth-wicket partnership between Lad and Dube (41, 32b, 1x4, 3x6).

Opener Akhil Herwadkar was the first to fall, caught behind off Siva Kumar for four. Shreyas Iyer followed soon after, leg before wicket to P. Vijay Kumar.

Rohit Sharma, who was playing his first official match after a four-month injury layoff, came in at No. 4, and took 13 balls to get off the mark. He hit two fours — a pull to cow corner, and a cover drive that deflected off the cover fielder for four between deep extra cover and long off — before getting caught behind off Girinath Reddy for 16 (33b).

Reddy was the pick of the Andhra bowlers with three for 53.
