Yuvraj Singh scored an unbeaten 78 (off 59 balls) as Punjab coasted to a six wicket victory against Rajasthan inching closer to the quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
With their fourth win in five matches, Punjab are on top of Group A with 16 points and a match to go.
Yuvraj, who hit 10 fours and two sixes, helped Punjab race to the target in only 44.4 overs. Opener Jiwanjot Singh (66) and Mandeep Singh (60) also made significant contributions.
Along with Mayank Siddana (25), Yuvraj added 75 runs in only 9.3 overs.
Hyderabad defeat Assam by 72 runs
Tanmay Agarwal and G. H. Vihari smashed half-centuries to power Hyderabad to a comfortable 72-run win over Assam in a Group A match.
Agarwal scored four boundaries and three sixes in his 77-ball innings, while Vihari’s 67-ball innings was laced with three fours and a six.
Arup Das (three for 45) and Jogeswar Bhumiz (three for 58) were the top wicket takers for Assam, while Krishna Das and Amit Verma picked one each.
Dhoni fails again but Jharkhand beat Karnataka by 47 runs
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s poor form in domestic cricket continued as he scored only one but Jharkhand managed to comfortably beat defending champions Karnataka to get a step closer to the quarter-finals.
Batting first, Jharkhand scored 216 for 9 with Ishank Jaggi (50), Saurabh Tiwary (43) and Kumar Deobrat (47) being the chief contributors.
On a day when Dhoni was picked by Pune franchise for a whopping Rs 12.5 crore, his on-field woes continued as he was castled by Karun Nair after facing eight balls.
In reply, Karnataka were all out for 169 with Lokesh Rahul scoring 42. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem (three for 15) was the best bowler on view. Sonu Singh also got three wickets.
