Ben Stokes has been given the all-clear by England to play as a batsman only in Durham's T20 Blast quarterfinal with Sussex.

The all-rounder was initially ruled out of Friday's clash due to a minor knee problem sustained during England's 203-run defeat to India in the third Test at Trent Bridge, which finished on Wednesday.

Stokes is expected to be fit for the fourth Test in Southampton, starting on August 30, but on Thursday, it was announced that he would be able to feature for his county after all.

"The all-rounder will add significant firepower as a batsman only as the Jets aim for a place at finals day," Durham said in a brief statement.
