Former TN batsman R. Raghavan passes away

R. Raghavan, the former Tamil Nadu left-hand batsman, passed away in Chennai after prolonged illness. He was 82.

Former Tamil Nadu left-hand batsman R. Raghavan passed away here on Monday after prolonged illness. He was 82.

Representing the State side in the 1950s, Raghavan played 15 matches and scored 384 runs with a highest score of 79. He played against visiting overseas sides such as a team from Commonwealth and represented Mambalam Mosquitos in the first division league with distinction.

Former leg-spinner ace from Tamil Nadu, V.V. Kumar said, “He batted at No. 3 and played with grace and style. He was a very elegant batsman with whom I played a lot of cricket. Raghavan was a good human being.”
