“Apex Council is the supreme authority and all its members including the Secretary are equal,” asserted Dr. K. Anil Kumar, in-charge president of Hyderabad Cricket Association.

“In the backdrop of the Hyderabad team being denied an entry in the KSCA Invititation tournament because of the controversial selection of two teams (one by the Apex Council and the other by the Secretary T. Seshnarayan) for the same event, I wish to clarify that it was because of Secretary’s mischief in naming his own team that led to the confusion,” he said.

“I wish to remind that the Secretary was present at the Council meeting which nominated a five-member selection panel for this season though he submitted a dissent note on the choice,” Dr. Anil said.

“Since the new season is starting, we appointed the selection panel to be ratified by the General Body later on along with any other directions of the Supreme Court with regard to Justice Lodha panel guidelines ,” he said.

“It is unfortunate that the Secretary is not able to digest the fact that all powers which were vested in his post earlier are now with the Apex Council and the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Pandurangamurthy, who is appointed according to Justice Lodha panel guidelines, is the implementing authority with 27 clearly defined functions,” the HCA top official said.

“We have have approached the BCCI in the wake of the latest controversial selection of teams’ issue and hope necessary corrective measures would be taken to ensure these things are not repeated,” he said.

With regard to claims of some being Players Representatives on the Apex Council, the HCA official clarified it is the Electoral Officer of the HCA who should conduct the elections for the players panel and then take a final call. “We respect the players and would like them to be involved in the promotion of game but in the manner suggested by Justice Lodha panel,” he said.

“We appeal to all the cricketers and parents not to get confused and respect only the Apex Council decisions,” Dr. Anil said.
