Dinesh Karthik has had a good outing at the domestic tournaments this season, which has eventually brought him back to Team India. Ahead of the Champions Trophy, the seasoned stumper-batsman spoke on a few topics.

Excerpts…

Did your selection for this Champions Trophy kindle memories of the last edition?

Definitely. Last time, it was a different feeling. I am happy to be back in the squad after three years. I want to give it my best.

You’re in good form — you’ve done well in the domestic circuit and the IPL. How will that help?

If you can carry that form into international, that'll be great. That's what I am planning to do. It's been a good year with Tamil Nadu. The reason why I am sitting here is because of Tamil Nadu’s great team effort. So, I wish to play well for India.

You’ve been in India-Pakistan contests. How will the atmosphere be during those games?

It’s amazing. The grounds will be packed. There will be crowds from the hotel to the ground. The last time I was a part of it, it was great. I really look forward to it again. And I want to do well in that game.

How did your parents influence your career?

I wouldn’t be here without them. There were a lot of difficulties. My dad was working in Kuwait and I had to be here. They were the one who guided me. They wouldn't pressurise me in studies. These little things mattered a lot.
