Indian skipper Virat Kohli, while making an unbeaten 78-ball 96 in the Champions Trophy semifinal versus Bangladesh on Thursday, went past 8000 ODI runs. He overtook AB de Villiers as the quickest man to get to the landmark.
Kohli took 175 innings -- seven fewer than de Villers -- to score 8000 runs. Kohli also became the eighth Indian to achieve the feat. Hot on Kohli's heels is Hashim Amla, who has 7186 runs in 153 ODI innings. The South African had broken Kohli's record for the quickest to reach 7000 ODI runs.
Coming in at 87 for one, Kohli shared unbeaten 178-run second-wicket stand with Rohit Sharma to take India to the Champions Trophy final.
