World Cup 2019: Asghar Afghan included in Afghanistan squad

Fast bowler Hamid Hassan was also included in the 15-man squad which will be captained by Gulbadin Naib.

Former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan, who was stripped of captaincy earlier this month, was included in his team's 15-man squad for the World Cup.

Former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan was included in his country's 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup 2019. Fast bowler Hamid Hassan was also included.

The 31-year-old Hassan, who last played in 2017, was out of action with fitness issues. He has, however, made a comeback to the squad, although his fitness remains under scrutiny.

“Luckily for us, the comeback of senior fast bowler Hamid Hassan is a good news," Dawlat Khan Ahmadzai, the chief selector, said. "However, we will take into account his form and fitness during upcoming practice matches."

Gulbadin Naib will lead the side that includes stars Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shahzad and Samiullah Shinwari also feature in the side.
