Afghanistan opener Noor Ali Zadran scored 32 to take Afghanistan to 69/2 in 20 overs before the second rain-break.

After the restart, Imran Tahir and Andile Phehlukwayo destroyed the Afghanistan middle-order taking four wickets for one run in ten balls. Tahir finished the game with four wickets and was deservedly adjudged player of the match.

Rashid Khan made a quick-fire 35 but that wasn't enough as Afghanistan folded for 125 in 34.1 overs.

South Africa openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock put up a 104-run first-wicket partnership to guide South Africa to an easy run-chase. Amla scored an unbeaten 41 - his highest score this World Cup- while Quinton scored 68.

Andile Phehlukwayo hit a six to finish the game for South Africa. He also took two important wickets during the Afghan innings which initiated Afghanistan's middle-order collapse.
