India took another step closer to the final after it outplayed Bangladesh in the quarterfinal of the ICC U-19 World Cup at Queenstown on Friday.
Shubman Gill top scored for India 86 before the bowlers shot the opposition out for 134 to set up a 131-run win.
Pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti stock continued to rise with three wickets to his name as Bangladesh struggled to get the better of him. Shivam Mavi and Abhishek Sharma chipped in with couple of wickets each to provide support for Nagarkoti.
Skipper Prithvi Shaw won the toss and put on a 86-run second wicket stand with Gill. Harvik Devasi (34) and Abhishek Sharma (50) also provided support from the middle order as India ended up with 265 in the 50th over.
India next faces arch-rival Pakistan in the semifinal on January 30.
Man-of-the-match Gill felt the wicket was on the slower side as he came into bat. " The wicket was on the slow side. We thought we could get around 280-300. And when the spinners came on we decided to aim for around 250-260," said Gill.
On learning from the head coach Rahul Dravid in the dressing room. "He is a great man. He asked me to play along the ground not go for aerial shots."
On the semifinal clash against Pakistan. "We are excited to play paksitan. It will be a great match," said the batsman from Punjab.
