After a win in Adelaide, India comes into the Test with renewed energy. It has walked into this Test match without a specialist spinner. Umesh Yadav has come in for Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari for Rohit Sharma. Australia has stayed unchanged for the second Test.

Indian bowlers were made to work hard on Day 1 as Australia managed to reach 277/6 at Perth by the draw of stumps. Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch stitched together a 112-run partnership for the opening wicket before Finch was caught plumb in front by Bumrah. Ishant Sharma was the pick of bowlers after he finished with figures of 16-7-35-2, well assisted by Hanuma Vihari (14-1-53-2). Here is the first day report.
