India will face Cricket Australia XI in a four-day tour match at the Sydney Cricket Ground from November 28 to December 1, ahead of the four-Test series between Australia and India starting in Adelaide on December 6.

All players of the touring party are allowed to participate in the game, since it has not been accorded the first-class status.

India spent three hours practising in the nets on match-eve, with Murali Vijay and K.L. Rahul batting in tandem, hinting at a possible reunion at the top of the order.

The batsmen took throw-downs from former Sri Lankan left-arm seamer Nuwan Seneviratne in order to negotiate Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc's left-arm angle.

The bowlers, too, rolled their arms with off-spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar bowling on the rough outside the off-stump.

India skipper Virat Kohli took major part in the nets session, facing the spinners  as a potential preparation against Nathan Lyon — the Adelaide pitch is expected to be dry, similar to the surface used in 2014.

But rain is expected to play spoilsport with heavy showers forecast for next two days.
