A good opening stand: Electing to bat first, Australia's Aaron Finch (left) and Marcus Harris provided the host a perfect start, on a green top, racing to a century partnership for the first wicket to set the tone. (Pic: Getty Images)

A burst from Ishant Sharma: India's Ishant Sharma bowled well in the first innings, returning with a four-wicket haul, and Australia was bowled out for 326, a total above par. (Pic: Getty Images)

Just another day in office for Virat Kohli: Indian captain got his 25th Test century but sadly for India, it came in a losing cause. Walking in at 8/2, Kohli with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane staged the recovery act. However, what caught the eye was Kohli's celebration after the ton. He seemed to gesture, 'bat is doing the talking.' (Pic: Getty Images)

Spin is king: Nathan Lyon ran through the Indian middle and lower order picking up five wickets as Australia took a 43-run lead in the first innings. (Pic: Getty Images)

Khawaja shines: Australia's Usman Khawaja shone with the bat in the second innings, scoring a gritty half-century, frustrating the Indian bowlers and extending Australia's lead. (Pic: Getty Images)

Shami swings it India's way: Mohammed Shami dominated the fourth day with a fiery spell and ended up with a six-wicket haul. His burst on the penultimate day gave India a ray of hope in the Test. (Pic: Getty Images)

Fiery outburst: Mohammed Shami was harsh and lethal. He pitched in the right areas, extracted pace and bounce and here Tim Paine evades a bouncer from Shami. (Pic: Getty Images)

Lyon lives up to his name: Chasing 287 to win the Test, India was again off to a horrid start and when Nathan Lyon sent Virat Kohli back to the hut, India was wobbling. (Pic: Getty Images)

Fails to make a mark: It was just a mere formality for Australia to run through India's middle and tail on Day Five and once Rishabh Pant was out, the match was as good as over. (Pic: Getty Images)

It's all over: Pat Cummins takes the final wicket, of India's Jasprit Bumrah, to signal a convincing win for Australia. (Getty Images)

Chatter: This Test would be remembered for a lot of words exchanged as both the teams had their share of chatter. The stump mike caught Tim Paine, Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli all venting their emotions through a war of words. Here, Paine exults, with some words, after Kohli fell to Lyon. (Pic: Getty Images)
