The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India A team for the upcoming South Africa tour on Thursday. While Manish Pandey will lead the one-day team, Karun Nair will captain the four-day team.
India A will play tri-series featuring South Africa and Australia, which will be followed by two four-day matches against the hosts.
Apart from Pandey, who has played 12 ODIs and 8 T20Is for the senior team, the other players from the squads travelling to South Africa who have played for the senior team are — Karun Nair (6 Tests, 2 ODIs), Jayant Yadav (4 Tests, 1 ODI), Abhinav Mukund (6 Tests), Axar Patel (30 ODIs, 7 T20Is), Yuzvendra Chahal (3 ODIs, 6 T20Is), Mandeep Singh (3 T20Is), Sanju Samson (1 T20I) and Rishabh Pant (1 T20I).
Krunal Pandya, who has played only one first-class match, has been picked up for the ODI squad.
Basil Thampi, Mohammed Siraj and Siddarth Kaul, stars of IPL 2017, were also picked for the ODI squad. Aniket Choudhary, another star of IPL season 10, was picked up for the four-day squad. Siraj also found place in the four-day squad.
While Pant found a place in the ODI team, Ishan Kishan was picked up for the four-day squad.
Priyank Panchal and Sudip Chatterjee were also picked up for the four-day match squad following their good performances in the last season of Ranji Trophy.

Test squad: Priyank Panchal, Abhinav Mukund, Shreyas Iyer, Ankit Bawne, Karun Nair (capt.), Sudip Chatterjee, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hanuma Vihari, Jayant Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Aniket Choudhary and Ankit Rajpoot.
