England batsmen guided the visitors past victory line in a match which saw M. S. Dhoni don the captain's hat for the final time.

A few hefty blows from the man of the moment, M. S. Dhoni, helped India ‘A’ go past the 300-run mark. MSD, coming to the crease after Ambati Rayudu’s (100) retirement, scored a quick-fire 68 (40 balls) to help his team reach 304. However, Sam Billings's 93, Jason Roy's 62, Alex Hales's 40, Jos Buttler's 46 and Liam Dawson's 41 made sure that England never went off the road in its reply. Kuldeep Singh shone with the ball, picking up five wickets.

It has turned out to be a warm-up game like no other. There is full security cover and the stadium is packed with screaming, howling cricket fans.

With the inclusion of M.S. Dhoni as captain for the warm-up game between India A and England, fans have thronged the Brabourne Stadium to see Dhoni leading an Indian team for one last time. He announced his decision to 'step down' from captaincy last week and Virat Kohli will be leading the team from the ODI series against England.

The Cricket Club of India on Monday had decided to throw open its gates for fans after the Mumbai Police agreed to provide security cover for the tour game.


5 overs: Alex Hales and Jason Roy have opened the innings for England. Dhoni has used Ashish Nehra and Hardik Pandya till now. England has been scoring around six runs an over.

10 overs: England crossed 50-mark. Jason Roy survived at 33 when Shikhar Dhawan dropped him at first slip. England's current run-rate is 5.80. It needs 247 runs to win.

FIFTY ALERT! Jason Roy completed his half-century with a four off Yuzvendra Chahal in the 14th over. He took 49 balls to reach 53.

WICKET Dhoni introduces chinaman Kuldeep Singh in the 15th over and he successfully removes Alex Hales off his third ball. Hales tries to smash a flat delivery towards cover but the ball finds Sanju Samson. He is dismissed for 40.

15 overs: England has scored 97 for the loss of one wicket. Sam Billings is the new batsman. The current run-rate is 6.46. England needs 208 runs to win.

WICKET Kuldeep Singh strikes again! Jason Roy tries to slog the delivery for six and it top edges and finds a running Mohit Sharma, who catches it safely.

WICKET Shikhar Dhawan takes a superb catch at first slip to remove Eoin Morgan. Morgan tries to reverse sweep off Yuzvendra Chahal but Dhawan dives towards his left and removes the England captain. England is 112 for the loss of three wickets after 18 overs. Jos Buttler is the new batsman.

20 overs: England is at 122 for three. It has two new batsman — Buttler and Billings. It needs 183 to win.

25 overs: Billings and Buttler have slowly steadied England's innings. It is at 138 for three and requires 167 runs to win.

30 overs: England has scored 189 for the loss of three wickets so far. Buttler is in his 40s and Billings is also closing in on a half-century. England needs 116 runs to win.

WICKET Buttler misses his half-century as he tries to smash a six straight down the ground but falls short and finds Mohit Sharma. Kuldeep claims his third wicket.

WICKET Kuldeep claims his fourth wicket as he traps Moeen Ali leg-before. Ali has to walk back for a duck after facing two balls. England has lost five wickets.

35 overs: Sam Billings is still batting with new batsman Liam Dawson. England has crossed 200-mark and need 93 runs to from remaining 15 overs. It has five wickets in hand.

40 overs: With 10 overs remaining, England need 59 runs to win. Sam Billings has completed his half-century. Dawson has settled down. India needs a couple of wickets here.

45 overs: Sam Billings survived a catching chance as Yuvraj Singh dropped the English batsman in the 44th over. Billings switched hit and the ball straight went to Yuvraj, who was standing at backward point. However, Yuvraj couldn't hold on to the ball as it went away for four runs. Dawson is closing in on his half-century, while Billings on his century. England needs 15 runs from 30 balls to win.

WICKET Kuldeep removes Liam Dawson as the batsman is caught and bowled by the chinaman. He goes for 41. With that Kuldeep registers his five-wicket haul.

WICKET Sam Billings has to walk back as Hardik Pandya bowls the English batsman. He goes for 93. England is losing quick wickets here.

48.5 overs: A calm Adil Rashid and Chris Woakes steer England to victory. Woakes hit two consecutive fours as England defeated India A by three wickets.

15 overs: Moeen Ali and Jake Ball not conceding any easy runs. India A struggles to 45/1.

20 overs: Wickets are in tact but Dhawan and Rayudu scoring at snail's pace, testing the patience of the bowlers, and the crowd. India A 75/1.
