There have been instances of fans dodging security to meet Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the middle of a match, but not many have been lucky enough to get a hug from him.
As the Indian players walked out onto the field after the innings break at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday, a young fan ran in to greet Dhoni.
But the playful 'MSD' didn't make it easy for him, forcing the fan to chase him through a group of players before stopping near the wicket. The young fan wearing a white tee, which had Dhoni’s jersey number ‘7’ and the word ‘ Thala’ (the Tamil word for leader) written on it -- finally caught up with his idol and touched his feet and hugged him.

This is not the first time that a fan has breached security to walk into the middle of the ground to catch a glimpse of Dhoni. In 2017, a fan jumped the fence at the Brabourne Stadium and ran on to the pitch to touch Dhoni’s feet in the World Cup-winning skipper’s farewell game as skipper against England.
