India squad for ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier announced

The BCCI on Tuesday announced the Indian Women's 14-member squad for the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier 2017 which will be held in Colombo from February 7.

The BCCI on Tuesday announced the Indian Women's 14-member squad for the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier 2017 which will be held in Colombo from February 3rd. Mithali Raj will be leading the team.

The squad is similar to the one which played against West Indies at home in November last year. However, Mona Meshram has been dropped from the squad.

India finished fifth in the ICC Women's Championship with Australia, England, New Zealand and West Indies making the automatic qualification cut at the end of the tournament.

India is in Group A alongside Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Thailand, while South Africa lead Group B comprising Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland and Papua New Guinea.

The ten teams will be divided in two groups, with the top three progressing to the Super Six stage. The top four at the end of Super Six stage will qualify for the ICC World Cup to be held in England this year. However, there will be a final to decide the winner of the tournament.

India squad: Mithali Raj (capt.), Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, M. D. Thirush Kamini, Veda Krishnamurthy, Devika Vaidya, Sushma Verma (wk), Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Sukanya Parida, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Deepti Sharma.
