India 32/0 after 2 overs: Mayank gets into the act as he smacks Hazlewood for consecutive boundaries - an exquisite cover drive followed by another one and this is a great start by the Indian openers.

India 20/0 after 1 over: Brilliant start from India as Dhawan beings in counter-attack fashion as he smokes Starc for three boundaries and this is exactly the kind of start that Kohli would have expected. Mayank is off the mark.

Steve Smith and Aaron Finch hit brilliant centuries as Australia posted a massive target of 374/6 in 50 overs. Not to forget the cameo from Glenn Maxwell and this will take some batting from the Indians to chase down this target. Back for the chase in a bit.

Australia 367/5 after 49 overs: What a fantastic knock by Smith as he reaches his century in just 62 balls and the 360-run barrier has been breached.

Australia 355/5 after 48 overs: Australia has crosses the 350-run mark and Smith is five runs away from his century.

Australia 342/5 after 47 overs: Excellent from Bumrah as he gives six runs from his penultimate over but Australia on course to post in excess of 360.

Australia 336/5 after 46 overs: Saini gets his first wicket although he has given away 91 from his nine overs. He removes Labuschagne but Smith is still out there.

Australia 330/4 after 45 overs: Shami strikes to pick his second wicket and he gets the big fish - Glenn Maxwell who departs for an excellent19-ball 45. What a knock he has played and Australia on course to post more than 350.

Australia 317/2 after 44 overs: Maxwell has found his touch and has put an exhibition at the SCG. He first smokes Saini way over deep mid-wicket and then finishes the over by smacking two consecutive boundaries.

Australia 302/3 after 43 overs: Maxwell is dealing in boundaries as he gets his switch-hit into play, fetches a boundary and a maximum to leave Chahal clueless. The bowler is further left frustrated as Hardik Pandya drops Maxwell as he parries it over the fence.

Australia 281/3 after 42 overs: Maxwell is off the mark straightaway with a boundary through the covers and Australia is gunning for a huge total. Smith holds key for the home side.

Australia 272/3 after 41 overs: Chahal strikes and he removes Stoinis for a golden duck as India fights back at the death. Smith, though, holds fort.

Australia 264/2 after 40 overs: Bumrah finally ends his wicketless streak as he he removes Finch, who falls for 124-ball 114. Nevertheless, India has to deal with an in-form Smith and enters The Hulk, Marcus Stoinis.

Australia 252/1 after 39 overs: Finch gets to his century and what a fine knock this has been. 17th ODI century and he looks up to the sky, raises his bat in memory of Phil Hughes and Australia in commanding position. Smith continues to play a gem as this time dances down the track and lofts Chahal for a maximum over wide long-off.

Australia 238/1 after 38 overs: Excellent half-century from Smith and he has given Australia the luxury to go after the bowling and post a huge total. Another productive one for Australia.

Australia 226/1 after 37 overs: Smith changes gears as he smacks Jadeja for three boundaries. Dhawan misses a dolly at long-on and Kohli is absolutely furious. Jadeja finishes with 10-0-63-0

Australia 214/1 after 36 overs: Smith and Finch continue to motor on and it's been a toil for the Indian bowlers as even Shami, who got the breakthrough, struggles to break the stand, which is worth 58 off 50 balls.

Australia 208/1 after 35 overs: Five runs come from Jadeja's penultimate over and Finch is just a shot away from reaching his hundred.

Australia 203/1 after 34 overs: Runs are coming freely and Smith pockets yet another boundary, this time unleashes a pull. Finch, six runs short of his hundred.

Australia 194/1 after 33 overs: Smith takes an excellent review after being given Out and Jadeja's joy was shortlived. The height saved Smith and the Indians can't believe it. 

Australia 188/1 after 32 overs: Finch moves into the nineties with a fierce cut over point and India in desperate need for a breakthrough.

Australia 179/1 after 31 overs: The fall of Warner hasn't made any impact as Smith and Finch have put Australia in the driver's seat. A whip through the mid-wicket was the pick of the shot from Smith as Chahal remains wicketless.

Australia 169/1 after 30 overs: Navdeep Saini is back into the attack and this time he would like to get a wicket and give India another breakthrough. 

Australia 158/1 after 29 overs: Chahal spoils a good over by over-stepping and Finch punishes the leg-spinner by dispatching him the backward point boundary.

Australia 156/1 after 28 overs: Shami strikes and India finally breaks the 156-run stand. There was a faint edge as the ball went past Warner's bat and India took the review, which turned out to be a successful one. Out comes Steve Smith.

Australia 126/0 after 23 overs: Warner gets to his fifty and he brings up his 22nd ODI half-century. This is going to be a high-scoring match and India needs to make sure, Australia don't run away.

Australia 118/0 after 22 overs: David Warner is two runs short of his half-century and Bumrah's inability to penetrate through the opening stand continues.

Australia 107/0 after 21 overs: Jadeja is bowling a stump to stump line and on a flat wicket, both openers are able to play him freely, without any pressure.

Australia 103/0 after 20 overs: Bumrah is back into the attack and India in desperate need for a breakthrough.

Australia 100/0 after 19 overs: Finch gets to his 28th ODI half-century and this has been a measured innings from the Australian skipper. The 100-run stand is up.

Australia 97/0 after 18 overs: Finch attacks Chahal and smokes him for a maximum over long on as 13 runs come from the over.

Australia 84/0 after 17 overs: There was an appeal for a caught behind and KL Rahul was celebrating but the umpire was unmoved. Kohli wasn't sure and didn't take the review.

Australia 81/0 after 16 overs: Chahal deceives Finch with a loopy delivery and the batsman goes for the shot, only to find a top-edge. Shikhar Dhawan puts a dive but fails to get to the ball. The run flow has been checked by the spinners. 

Australia 74/0 after 15 overs: Jadeja purchases some turn and almost had Finch trapped. A huge shout for LBW but Kohli decides not to go for the review. Spin from both ends and this should be an interesting passage of play.

Australia 72/0 after 14 overs: Warner decides to attack and he smacks Chahal over the mid-wicket. This is going to a high-scoring match and India's search for wickets continue. Very little turn for Chahal.

Australia 64/0 after 13 overs: India has once again gone wicketless in the Powerplay and Kohli would hope Chahal gets the breakthrough. Warner and Finch have got adjusted to the pace and bounce from Saini and these are dangerous signs for India. Time for Drinks.

Australia 56/0 after 12 overs: Tidy start from Chahal as he gives just two runs. Finch on one occasion dances down the track but was beaten by flight. 

Spin into the attack and it will be Yuzvendra Chahal.

Australia 54/0 after 11 overs: Good over from Saini as he surprises Warner with a bouncer and gives three runs. Warner fetches an outside the off delivery and dispatches to the deep for a single. 

Australia 51/0 after 10 overs: End of Powerplay and the fifty-run opening stand is up. Australia will be happy with both openers - Warner and Finch getting their eye in.

Australia 49/0 after 9 overs: Class from Warner as he helps a back of length delivery past the short fine leg for a boundary and this is a very good start from Australia. Saini gives nine and he is proving expensive. India, in need for a breakthrough.

Australia 40/0 after 8 overs: Bumrah bowling some really tight overs and this time gives just three to finish his fourth over. India needs to break this stand as both Finch and Warner are well-set and will attack going forward.

Australia 37/0 after 7 overs: Saini starts with a loosener and Finch pounces on it as he smacks it past point for a boundary. The bowler, however, makes a brilliant comeback to bowl four dot balls and end the over with a single.

Australia 32/0 after 6 overs: Finch finally founds a boundary as pulls Bumrah past the square leg for a boundary and Australia will be happy with the way things have panned out after opting to bat first.

Australia 27/0 after 5 overs: Warner has started to free his arms and he fetches 10 runs from Shami's third over and Australia off to a sedate start. India eyeing a breakthrough here.

Australia 17/0 after 4 overs: A quick single and a direct hit from mid-off almost packed off Warner but he is safe with a dive, getting his bat inside the crease at just the right time. Indians eyeing a wicket here and both Bumrah and Shami have been brilliant.

Australia 8/0 after 3 overs: Finch is trying to make a move on but this is class bowling from Shami as he keeps hitting the off-stump channel and nearly found an outside edge.

Australia 7/0 after 2 overs: Jasprit Bumrah starts in a decent way and David Warner breaks away from the shackles with a beautiful cut through the square for the first boundary of the innings.

Australia 1/0 after 1 over: Quality stuff from Mohammed Shami as he starts with a perfect over, giving just a single. He has been impressive with his length and keeps Finch at bay. The skipper is yet to get off the mark.

Alright we are all set for the first ODI to begin and out walk David Warner and Aaron Finch. For India, it will be Mohammed Shami.
