Kohli hoping for spell in county cricket

The India captain, who's scored over 600 runs in the ongoing series against England, experienced different fortunes on a difficult trip there in 2014, averaging just 13.40 with the bat as he struggled to get to grips with swing and seam movement.

India captain Virat Kohli considers playing in the English county to get acclimatised to the conditions there.

Virat Kohli is hoping to have a spell in county cricket before India's tour of England in 2018 to give himself every chance of erasing the memories of his dismal Test series two years ago.

Kohli has been outstanding as India sealed a Test victory over England with a match to spare, and the world's top-ranked team will attempt to wrap up a 4-0 triumph when the final game begins in Chennai on Friday.

The India captain experienced very different fortunes on a difficult trip to England in 2014, though, averaging just 13.40 with the bat as he struggled to get to grips with swing and seam movement.

And the mercurial 28-year-old has already started thinking about arriving early when India next head to England for a Test series in order to get used to conditions he found so difficult to master last time around.

"If I have a chance I would love to do that. I would love to be there a month or month-and-a-half beforehand getting used to playing in the conditions, understand what the wickets play like in that phase of the year," he said.

"I think those things matter a lot and is something that is very crucial for a side. So yes if I have the opportunity to go there a few days before the tour starts that would be great.

"I have actually been thinking about it and try to work out how I can make that happen. Most definitely if I have time I would love to."
