So, with the 90-run win, India goes 2-0 up in the five-match series. The third ODI will be held at the same venue, on Monday. Until then, it's goodbye.

Virat Kohli, the India captain: Quite clinical. A par score, like Rohit said. Fearlessness that we had paid off in the end. Just the heart with which [the spinner] bowl is pleasing. It's the mindset that's helping them and the team."

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain: "Frustrating. Credit to India, they played really well. We showed glimpses in the chase, but we didn't take it long enough."

Rohit, the Player of the Match: "[324] wasn't a winning score on this wicket, but the bowlers bowled really well for us. Always enjoy batting with Shikhar. It was a great partnership."

2.30 pm: Dhawan played another good hand, scoring 66 up front and sharing a partnership of 154 with Rohit Sharma. The middle-order was full of runs too, including Kohli and Dhoni. Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav expertly accelerated at the death.

2.28 pm: It's been two one-sided wins in a row, and if Bracewell hadn't chipped in with his half-century, New Zealand would have crumbled long ago. Again, the engineers of the victory were the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. As in the first ODI in Napier, they took six wickets between them.

2.27 pm: And it's all over. Ferguson is caught at long-on and India wins by 90 runs.

2.26 pm: Trent Boult, the No. 11, wastes no time. He plays two exquisite strokes to collects a four and a six. One of them was a peculiar pull to midwicket.

2.23 pm: And perhaps the last hope is extinguished with Bracewell's dismissal. Bhuvneshwar bowls a slower ball, Bracewell lofts it to Shikhar Dhawan stationed at long-on. The last rights remain now.

Bracewell out for 57, off 46 balls.

2:21 pm: Kuldeep finishes his spell, 4 for 45 off his 10 overs. His last delivery troubled Bracewell; it was full, outside off-stump, and Bracewell, attempting to defend it, gets an inside-edge past the wicketkeeper for a boundary. 101 required off 66 now.

2:13 pm: Only two runs taken off Kuldeep Yadav in the next over. Bracewell gets to his half-century, off 35 deliveries. 113 needed from 78.

2:10 pm: Off the other wrist spinner — Yuzvendra Chahal — he collects a six through cow corner. It's a clean slog sweep. Four singles from the same over take NZ to 210 for 8. 115 more required for a win, off 84 deliveries.

2:06pm: Their backs may be against the wall, but the towel hasn't been thrown in just yet. Doug Bracewell collects two boundaries off two long-hops from Kuldeep Yadav, and brings up the 200. It's 200 for 8 in 35 overs.

1:52pm: Kuldeep Yadav ripping through the New Zealand line-up as he gets two off successive deliveries. Latham was the first one to go, caught at backward point by Shami and the next ball Sodhi was castled. NZ 166/8 in 31 overs.

1:37pm: Kuldeep Yadav picks up his second as Grandhomme (3) holes out to Rayudu at deep midwicket. NZ 146/6 in 27 overs.

1:25pm: Kuldeep Yadav strikes in his third over with the wicket of Tom Latham for 34, trapped lbw. Tossed up delivery, the batsman fails to read it and gets trapped dead infront. NZ 138/5 in 25 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav introduced into the attack.

1:05pm: OUT. A MSD special behind the stumps gets India another wicket. Taylor (22) pushes forward at a Jadhav delivery, misses and Dhoni in a flash disturbs the bails. Taylor's back foot was in air for seconds, but enough time for Dhoni. Smart glovework!

12:47pm: OUT. Munro (31) falls trying a reverse-hit as Chahal traps him infront. Though hit on tummy, Munro looked plumb. he doesn't go for the review after consulting Ross Taylor at the other end. New Zealand now three down.

12:45pm: Vijay Shankar taken off the attack after two overs. Now it's spin with Jadhav and Chahal bowling in tandem. NZ 84/2 in 14 overs.

Four, two and out... Shami has the last laugh as he castles Williamson after being taken to cleaners in the first three deliveries. Length ball, coming back and gets an inside edge to the stumps. A big blow for New Zealand chasing a massive score of 325.

Six and again a six. Shami digs in two short balls and Williamson hooks two successive hits over fine leg fence.

12:09pm: Martin Guptill (15) finally runs out of luck after two earlier reprieves as he holes out to Chahal at third man. Bhuvi digs it short and wide and Guptill slashes it in the air to third man.

12:01pm: Nervy times for Guptill as the next ball he faces from Shami is also an outside edge, but luckily didn't carry to Rohit Sharma at second slip.

11:57am: Guptill gets another reprieve as Dhoni grasses a thick outside edge induced by a Bhuvi outswinger. Surprisingly, Kohli doesn't have slips in place.

Mohammed Shami bowls from the other end. Chasing 324, can Colin Munro and Martin Guptill replicate India's start?

11:47am: A direct hit and Martin Guptill was gone first ball of New Zealand's chase of 324. Rayudu at mid-off had all the time but couldn't hit the stumps. At the end of Bhuvneshwar's first over, NZ 7/0.

11:05am: India would have easily scored above 350 but credit to New Zealand bowlers to pull things back between 40-45 overs. The wickets of Kohli and Rayudu - both getting out in 40s, slowed down things for India. However, Dhoni and Jadhav at the end ensured India finishing at 324/4.

10:51am: Dhoni plays in the air off Ferguson but Grandhomme spills an easy chance at the third man boundary.

10:40am: India seems to have squandered the solid foundation provided by Rohit and Dhawan earlier in the innings. When both were at the crease, India was looking nothing less than 320. So, how much would India get in the remaining five overs? India 267/3 in 45 overs.

10:15am: Trent Boult gets his second wicket of the match as he bounces out Virat Kohli on 43. The ball hurried on to Kohli and gets a top edge to the fine leg fielder. India 236/3 in 39.1 overs.

10:01am: 200 up for India with two back-to-back boundaries by Kohli off Bracewell. India eyeing a big total after a solid start given by Rohit and Dhawan.

9:45am: After four dot balls, Rayudu hits two boundaries off the last two Ferguson deliveries. The pitch has been a beauty to bat on with the ball nicely skidding on. The wickets of Rohit and Dhawan has slowed down the scoring rate, just below six. India 186/2 in 32 overs.

9:35am: Now Lockie Ferguson with the crucial scalp of Rohit Sharma, caught at deep midwicket for 87. Kohli and Rayudu are the new batsmen at the crease and a have a solid foundation to build on towards a huge score. India 172/2 in 29.3 overs.

9:19am: Trent Boult finally gets the breakthrough for New Zealand with the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan for 66. Virat Kohli is the new batsman at the crease. India 154/1 in 25.2 overs.

Colin Munro into the attack as New Zealand desperately looks for a breakthrough.

8:56am: Shikhar Dhawan brings up his 27th ODI fifty after putting up 14th century stand with Rohit Sharma. India 124/0 in 21 overs.

Six. Short one from Ferguson and Rohit Sharma won't miss out.

8:45am: Half-century for Rohit Sharma as the opener reaches his 38th ODI fifty with a six off Ferguson. At the other end, Dhawan is four runs short of his half-century. India 100/0 in 18 overs.

8:30am: Rohit taking his chances as a mistimed pull shot of Sodhi falls short of the deep midwicket fielder. The Kiwis need a wicket here, India 88/0 in 15 overs.

Six. Short from Sodhi and Rohit pulls it over square leg fence.

8:13am: Ish Sodhi introduced into the attack as New Zealand seeks a breakthrough with Rohit and Dhawan looking dangerous. India 56/0 in 10 overs.

Four. Short and wide from Bracewell and Dhawan cuts it between point and cover.

Bowling change. Lockie Ferguson into the attack.

7:47am: A fluent start by both the Indian openers so far. However, they did give New Zealand bowler chances with their poor shot selection. India 21/0 in 4 overs.

Four. Rohit makes room and plays through the gap between mid-off and extra cover.

Four. Boult overpitches and Rohit Sharma plays straight down the ground. Lovely stroke!

7:34am: What a start by Trent Boult and almost had a wicket first ball. Rohit Sharma chases an away going delivery, thick outside edge but no first slip. India 4/0 in 1 over.

Toss: India opts to bat first.

Team news: India is unchanged while New Zealand has two changes - Sodhi comes in for Santner, Grandhomme replaces Southee.

India will look to continue to baffle New Zealand with its dosage of spin in the second One-Day International commences at the Bay Oval here on Saturday.

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s two wrist-spinners, had taken six wickets between them in the first ODI, triggering New Zealand’s collapse as it was bowled out for 157. India eventually picked up an eight-wicket win.

India is yet to finalise its middle-order ahead of the World Cup, but is unlikely to tinker much with the playing XI after just one game. Hardik Pandya is set to join the squad in New Zealand after being given the green signal by the Committee of Administrators (CoA), he is likely to be available only from the third ODI.
