There seems to be some glad tidings at last for the Sri Lanka team as its regular skipper Dinesh Chandimal joined the squad after recovering from pneumonia.

Having missed the first Test at Galle, which India won by 304 runs, Chandimal has trained over the last few days. He joined his mates at the team hotel and there is a strong probability of him playing the second Test commencing at the Sinhalese Sports Club here on Thursday.

However, there is no clarity on Rangana Herath’s fitness.

The stand-in captain at Galle, injured his left middle finger and missed the fourth and final day of the Test.
