Sri Lanka suffered another injury setback as Rangana Herath was ruled out of the third and final Test at Pallekele, starting from August 12. A sore back has ruled out the Sri Lankan left-arm spinner.

Herath joins Asela Gunaratne, who fractured his left thumb during first Test, Suranga Lakmal with a back injury and Nuwan Pradeep with a hamstring issue. .

Herath had earlier sustained injury to his middle finger while fielding in the first Test and left the field and did not bat in the second innings.

Chandimal had earlier missed the first Test due to pneumonia.

India sealed the three-Test series 2-0 by wrapping up the second Test by an innings and 53-run win on day four of the match.
