Left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara and left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando were the new faces in the Sri Lanka ODI and Twenty20 squad announced here on Tuesday.

Pushpakumara made his Test bow against India in the second Test at Colombo, while Fernando was drafted in place of the injured fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep for the third Test.

Upul Tharanga will lead the side for the first time as a full-time captain following Angelo Mathews' resignation. Mathews stepped down from the post at the back of Sri Lanka's humiliating 3-2 loss against Zimbabwe at home last month.

Veteran fast-bowler Lasith Malinga will take the new ball in coloured clothing along with the returning Thisara Perera. Senior pacer Nuwan Kulasekara has been dropped after a string of disappointing performances.

Key players Asela Gunaratne and Pradeep remain sidelined with a fractured thumb and hamstring injury suffered respectively during the recently concluded Test series.

The first match of the ODI series against India will be held in Dambulla on August 20.
