Opener Rohit Sharma will travel to Mumbai for a “scheduled” medical check-up, as a preventive measure after his thigh surgery he underwent in November last year. Rohit is a member of the Indian squad currently participating in a three-Test series in Sri Lanka, but he is not part of the team that is playing the second Test in Colombo against Sri Lanka.

According to a BCCI communique, “there is no health or fitness concern” with Rohit, who will depart for Mumbai later on Thursday, and return to rejoin his team-mates on Friday.

The first day of the second Test concluded on Thursday, with India in command on 344 for 3.
