Shikhar Dhawan will take no further part in India’s ongoing limited-overs assignment in Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced. The opener is leaving for India to attend to his ailing mother, who “is stable and recovering well at the moment,” according to a Board communique.

The Board has decided not to name a replacement. The Indian team is left to play a One-Day International and a Twenty20 before its tour of the island nation ends. Dhawan has enjoyed a fruitful tour, with two Test centuries and a one-day century.
Selected only because of Murali Vijay's absence, he was India’s highest run-getter in the three-Test series that preceded the ODIs.
