“Whatever it takes to popularise Test cricket, I am for it and India is playing 17 Test matches in the next 12 months and that itself goes to show that to the BCCI and Indian cricket, how important Test cricket is. Talking to the players, although it is my first day and probably just a couple of hours that I have spent with the players, talking to all of them, I fully realise how much importance they give to Test cricket. We will certainly display a form of Test cricket which will bring in people to watch and love the game,” India’s coach said.

Kumble, however, refused to dwell upon the ICC’s deliberations regarding a two-tier system in Tests. “I was a part of that discussion as well. I think at this stage, I would not like to make a comment of that but I am aware of all the proposals,” he said.
