The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce India's head coach today.

"Our attempt is to ensure that the announcement is made Thursday on the third day of the annual conclave in Dharamsala. We expect to make an announcement in this regard by this evening,” BCCI president Anurag Thakur told the media here.

The BCCI is presently hosting its first ever four-day annual conclave at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The BCCI’s advisory committee, appointed to pick the Indian head coach, will forward the final choice to honorary secretary Ajay Shirke. The date for forwarding the name was previously reported to be June 24. The three-member BCCI’s cricket advisory panel comprising eminent cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman had interviewed the shortlisted 21 candidates.

Former Indian cricketers Anil Kumble, Pravin Amre and Lalchand Rajput, along with other aspirants were interviewed on Tuesday. Last week, the sport’s governing body had shortlisted 21 candidates out of 57 applicants for the post of head coach of the Indian team after they met the primary criteria specified by the BCCI. This comes as former cricketer Ravi shastri`s as the team director contract end.
