Harbhajan, Rohit, Gambhir among cricket stars at launch of StarPick

The fantasy sports platform is set to start services with the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

A host of popular cricketers were present here, on Monday, at the launch function of StarPick, an online fantasy sports platform. Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Gautam Gambhir, Jonty Rhodes and V.V.S. Laxman were some of the big names, who were involved in a panel discussion, at the event here, on Monday.

The fantasy sports platform is set to start services with the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). StarPick will also offer a wider game portfolio which includes sports like kabaddi, football and hockey.

Ulf Ekberg, StarPick co-founder, said, “We have had an eagle eye view of the strength and popularity of fantasy sports in the U.S.A. and European markets, and now we look forward to bringing this global perspective for fantasy sports to India.” Ekberg, incidentally, is also a founding member of pop group Ace of Base.

“This gives fans an opportunity to create their own team, and to develop a deeper understanding of the game,” Rohit Sharma said.
