The day-night one-day match between New Zealand A and India A scheduled to begin at 1:.30 p.m. on Sunday at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy stadium was called off. The remaining four of the five fixtures were rescheduled. They will now be played on October 10, 11, 13 and 15, with the second of these slated to be a day-night affair.

Rain on Saturday night undid most of the drying work ground staff carried out during the day. On Sunday afternoon, the outfield was damp and the game was postponed.

Curator Naga Mallaiah said that while there was sunshine, a must for the ground’s natural healing process, the dark clouds and subsequent rains didn’t help the cause.

“It’s the rainy season and we last watered the ground artificially more than a month ago. There’s no human error responsible for the present situation. It’s just that these are adverse weather conditions,” he said.
