India found some hope in their winning endeavour in the morning as Hashim Amla, who had blocked incessantly on the fourth day, was dismissed for a 244-ball 25 by Ravindra Jadeja in the morning session.

South Africa suffered two blows in the post-lunch session when No. 5 Faf du Plessis and No. 6 JP Duminy were dismissed. Duminy fell lbw to Ravichandran Ashwin for a 12-ball duck.
A flurry of wickets ensued in the post-tea session, beginning with the wicket of South Africa's wicketkeeper Dane Vilas.
AB de Villiers' wicket in the next over, off Ashwin, gave a severe blow to South Africa's chances of securing a draw, as it exposed the tail.
India wrapped up the Test without much delay. Ashwin finished with five wickets.
The 337-run win gave India a 3-0 series win over the top-ranked South Africa. India moved to the second spot in the rankings.
Virat Kohli collected his second series win as captain, in the two series he has captained. This was the first series win at home under him.
