Former cricketers Herschelle Gibbs, Lance Klusener, Courtney Walsh, Nicky Boje and Desmond Haynes will be in the city for a 13-day cricket camp, commencing on Tuesday.
The fivesome will join coaches Davy Jacobs and Derek Perera along with other support staff to train aspiring young cricketers at the Kreeda Sports Foundation, YMCA Nandanam as part of the Ultimate Sports Coaching (USC) cricket camp.
“Fielding plays a huge part in all formats of cricket and I will definitely be sharing tips and techniques and will be demonstrating what I have learnt over the years,” Gibbs told Sportstar ahead of the camp.
The 53-year-old Walsh didn’t believe in a strict regimen. “The plan is to help all improve, if subtle changes are needed I will discuss it with the player,” he said.
According to USC, the cricketers will interact with the participants and try to foster their game. USC has tied up with cricket technology providers Pitch Vision UK, serviced by the South African Cricket Team, Marylebone Cricket Club Academy (U.K.) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The camp, which comprises of two batches – 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – will end on May 29.
The camp is being held in association with Sportstarlive.com .
