India fell to its fifth lowest total against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala on Sunday as it was bowled out for 112 in the 39th over. It was the 14th lowest total for India, but at one point the Men in Blue were in danger of registering the lowest total in ODI history, when it was tottering at 29/7 in the 17th over.

Thankfully for the Indians, Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to the rescue, like he so often does in such dire straits, with the former captain scoring more than half of the runs (65). He stiched partnerships with different batters before being the last batsman to be dismissed as India folded out for 112 in the 39th over.

The ignominy of registering lowest ever ODI total belongs to Zimbabwe (35), which it achieved in 2004 against Sri Lanka at the Harare Sports Club. Interestingly, Sri Lanka has the knack of skittling the opposition to paltry totals, with the top three low scores in ODI all coming against the island nation.
