New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill will miss the second One-Day International (ODI) against Australia due to a hamstring injury. Guptill felt tightness in his hamstring during his team's thrilling > six-run win in the series opener on Monday.

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said he was unwilling to risk Guptill in Thursday's second clash. "Martin felt tightness in his left hamstring while fielding [on Monday] and after being monitored over the last 24 hours it's become apparent he won't quite be ready for Napier," he said.

"He'll remain with the team and we'll continue to monitor him ahead of the third ODI in Hamilton."

Dean Brownlie has been called up to replace Guptill, who made 61 in the series opener. New Zealand can seal the three-match ODI series with a win at McLean Park.
