Australia has named an unchanged XI for the Boxing Day test against Pakistan in Melbourne, starting Monday.

Uncapped all-rounder Hilton Cartwright was in the mix to be part of the second Test at the MCG after being included in the squad following Australia's dramatic 39-run win in Brisbane.

Captain > Steve Smith and Australia, however, have stuck with the same team that triumphed at the Gabba, with bowling quartet > MitchellStarc , > Josh Hazlewood , Jackson Bird and Nathan Lyon given the nod to face the tourists as Chadd Sayers missed out on a debut.

Under-fire Nic Maddinson has been given another chance to prove himself on the international stage after scores of zero, one and four since making his bow in Adelaide.

Pakistan skipper > Misbah-ul-Haq , meanwhile, will wait until the coin toss on Boxing Day before naming the country's XI. Victory in the second Test would seal a series win for Australia.
