Chris Lynn inspired Brisbane Heat to an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers to move them top of the Big Bash League.
Lynn smashed a BBL record-equalling 11 sixes in his astonishing unbeaten 98 off only 49 balls — the top score in this year's tournament — as the Scorchers were put to the sword in front of their own fans at a stunned Furnace on Thursday.
Brendon McCullum made 50 not out from 31, but it was Lynn who took centre stage in a record second-wicket stand in the competition of 148 to get the Heat — missing spinner Samuel Badree due to a hamstring injury — home with 32 balls to spare.
David Willey caught Lynn on 23, but stepped on the rope and Ashton Turner failed to hold on to a difficult chance to get rid of the man of the match, who dished out some brutal punishment to the Scorchers attack.
Lynn and McCullum have taken the BBL by storm and the former New Zealand captain, who snapped his bat before bringing up a second half-century of the tournament and was dropped on 28, cleared the ropes three times in another fine knock at the top of the order.
