Aaron Finch has earned a speedy recall to Australia's one-day squad after David Warner and Usman Khawaja were rested for the three-match series in New Zealand.

Finch and fellow batsman George Bailey were notable omissions for the ongoing home ODI rubber against Pakistan, Australia head coach Darren Lehmann citing a simple lack of runs for the pair as the reason behind their exclusions.

However, after displaying impressive form in the Big Bash League for Melbourne Renegades, Finch has benefited from the decision to give Warner and Khawaja a break ahead of the Test tour of India.

Shaun Marsh, who last played international cricket in August 2016, has also been recalled.

Cricket Australia's interim national selector, Trevor Hohns, said of Warner: "David has had a very big summer and will benefit from a break in cricket, both mentally and physically.

"He will travel to Dubai [for a training camp] in the second group of departures to coincide with those players arriving from the one-day series in New Zealand.

"This gives Aaron an opportunity to return to the side. His form in the Big Bash League has been very good and he has earned his recall."

Finch passed 50 in three of his last four innings for the Renegades, although his efforts were not enough to earn the team a semifinal berth in the Big Bash.

Australia's first ODI in New Zealand takes place on January 30.

Australia ODI squad in full:  Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa.
