South Africa will have to do without David Miller for the rest of the one-day international series against Sri Lanka after the batsman suffered a hand injury.

The big-hitting Miller bludgeoned 117 not out from only 98 balls in a crushing 121-victory at Kingsmead on Wednesday as the Proteas took a 2-0 series lead.

Miller will not be involved in the remaining three matches, though, after he cut his right hand while attempting to take a catch early in Sri Lanka's reply.

The powerful left-hander required stitches to repair the wound, but is available to travel for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.

Proteas team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said: "David required sutures to a laceration sustained while fielding a ball during the match last night.

"He will need at least seven to 10 days to recover and will miss the remaining three matches of the series. He remains available for selection for the upcoming tour of New Zealand."

South Africa has not called up a replacement for Miller.
