Farhaan Behardien has replaced the injured David Miller in the South Africa squad for the remainder of the One-Day International series against Sri Lanka.

Miller made an unbeaten century in the second ODI at Kingsmead on Wednesday, but needed stitches in his right hand after injuring himself trying to take a catch during Sri Lanka's unsuccessful run chase.

The Proteas did not initially call up a replacement for the rest of a five-match series, which they lead 2-0, but Behardien has now been added to the squad.

Behardien captained his country in the Twenty20 series victory over Sri Lanka last month and ODI skipper AB de Villiers said South Africa is lucky to be able to draft the 33-year-old in as it aims to wrap up the series at the Wanderers on Saturday.

De Villiers said: "He's one of those guys you want in your team when the chips are down and he's also one of the guys you want in your team when you're going well.

"He can play any role; he can bowl a few overs, he's great in the field and is generally a really good team man, good guy and it's really good to have him in the side.

"He's a really good replacement for Dave, there's no one better that's for sure."
